It shoots a little high. But we figured that out.

Have loaded with 9shot I will be testing other shot also. You can use any size. I just don't exceed the grain weight of 46.3 grains of a H&N 30 caliber pellet the 130 QE was designed to use.

I've killed 3-pound furry animals and game birds very dead with #8 shot in a .410 shotgun at 25 yards, plus even a 20-pound turkey (with head/neck shot), so...

Of course that is with a lot more shot and velocity. I would stick with the #8 shot to make sure you get enough hits on the target. Pattern density is (almost) everything here, plus aim for the head.

The can was hit by six or seven pieces of shot they dented it but didn't penetrate. The other showed recoil

Do you have any tear down photos of the barrel ? I'm looking to get a spare made or purchased, and the engineers that designed the vortex have declined to answer my email requests for a parts diagram.

Will be testing some new sabots for my 130QE 8mm shotgun mod this weekend. These are the 3rd generation sabots. The second gen ones work okay but I think there's always room for improvements.

They are gel capsules, attached is a paper sleeve to make them fit snug. The top of the capsules are slit. I think it is #8 blew up picture so you could see construction better.

25 ft with new sabots. The #7 the smaller holes the bb shot are the 5 larger. They all went thru the cardboard. The disc it the bottom of a coffee can I make into targets. Shot from 25ft. Shot a bit high on this one. Sabot before and after.

and BB shot 8.18 grains 540fps 5.3fpe

Have shot soup cans, apples, cans of soda etc…. vis targets two rats a squirrel and a starling. All from around 20ft. And when I'm shooting it on my range it always 25ft or less and wear eye protection

You can load the sabots with any size shot, keeping them at no more than 50 grains or less. I will be experimenting with these shot sizes and different grain loads.

#4    Bird   3.30 grains    2.1 fpe at 540fps
#4½Bird   2.90 grains    1.9 fpe at 540fps
#5   Bird   2.60 grains    1.7 fpe at 540 fps
#6   Bird 2.00 grains 1.3 fpe at 540fps
