Got home, filled gun to 3000psi, after about an hour it looked like she was leaking a bit, about ~50psi. Out to dinner now, will check when I get back. I don’t like the fact this gun may still leak, I don’t want to take it apart again, I’m assuming other “0” rings are working.

Will work on Delrin pieces when I get to the office tomorrow.

I’m hoping I can make them nicely and they work.

Probably they were pretty tight. Did i strip something?

Here are a few of the Delrin poppets,.now the only thing to do is sand down about .010-.015 off the diameter.. The ends are smooth as heck by the way.. I think taking off this last bit is going to take some time ;- (

Can you get them mounted and centered on the lathe? (Like pinch them between two 'cones'?)
can you glue oiled sandpaper to a chunk of brass thats on your tool holder?

Here are some Liberty Poppet inserts that I just completed ;- )

They are .
.265-.272 long
.315-.319 OD
.166 ID

Each one comes with two thin washers so the extra length should fit the poppet stem groove with the thin c-clips, you probably need only one c-clips

These are all a tad bit over size, so you may have to do a little work on them but not much.

If you are need of a poppet for your Liberty, PM me and I will send out one.

I have not tried these in my gun yet, but I will next week ... you guys are my Guinea pigs ;- )

I took my two wooden Liberties apart and replaced the soft internal poppet material with the Delrin inserts I made. They fit in just perfectly. They had ~015+ of Delrin sticking out the front of the poppet cup. Once the original soft material was removed the poppet shaft fit the ID of the insert nice and snug (lightly pounded/pressed in). I put the shaft in after the insert was installed in the cup. I used one c-clip in the poppet shaft groove.

For those of you that have not taken the gun apart, it is a piece of cake ... you will need a bit of room to work, all three stock holding screws come out easily, and removing the air release screw helps in taking the gun apart.. You WILL want to remove the barrel band as the can bind up stock removal, also put the band on last when assembling. Used DuPont 111 on all the threads as it is used as a blocking agent sometimes too. If you don't have 111 (most of you won't) a good silicone grease will work fine.

There is one other thing that is a manufacturing fault with this gun ... and the is the spring that holds the poppet seated on the valve ... a horrible design that could have been EASILY rectified by just grinding the ends so the spring fits flush with the back of the poppet, the rest of the gun is a dream to work on and the manufactured problems can all be resolved..

I will take them home in a bit and fill with air, I'm hoping they hold air for sure !! I flipped the insides of the poppet in Timber last week and it still leaked ... When I took it apart today the soft material was totally flattened out and even with the cup lip .....that material is WAY, WAY, WAY to soft !!

As a manufacturer myself, doing this kind of mistake can do major harm to your product, you better have great customer service and rectify the situation fast !!

Here is a pic of my two wooden Liberties after poppet fix ........ The one on the left is Timber, the other is Woodstock. You will notice they each have a DonnyFL adapter on the end ;- )

Those 2 Liberties look great. So does that last poppet! (Can I buy 4 of them from you?) (SERIOUSLY!)

I took a first look at my 100$ liberty (Wood), took the action out and the reservoir (plenum?) wasn’t even finger tight. I spun it off, added 3 wraps of Tef-tape, and will snug it down at final assembly (can you imagine if that is all that was wrong with it?!?!)

But, I can’t pump it up to test yet - What 50 dollar pump should I get? Are they all the same? Any PM’s for suggestions would be great.

On reassembly, my front swivel screw was not perfectly lined up with the nut (the nut is IN the tube-support) - so ...

get the stock ALMOST all the way on, get that screw started, and THEN push the action home, and put in the rear machine screw (shouldered).

I will move that band slightly - to line it up better - on final assembly in a week or 3.

Those threads are not pipe threads. You need to take the tape off. Make sure no pieces are left inside, they will quickly migrate to valve and cause issues. There should be an o-ring in the groove that provides the sealing. One of my parts gun leaked there, and the o-ring was squished outside of the groove. Unfortunately, that was not the only leak.

Yes, that is about the only way ;- )

When both of these guns are working i will set them up to shoot JSB 18.13 gr'rs in the 905-925fps area. That gives me the flat trajectory I want to about 45-50- yards and enough energy for Ground Squirrels, Jack Rabbets and the like !

I got both guns home and set to fill them, the first was my latest parts gun, Timber.

As I started to fill I could see she was leaking, I quickly fired off a couple dry fire shots and the leaking greatly slowed down, I shot a couple more times and the leaking stopped. I filled to 3000 and that is where she sits. It has been an hour and nothing has changed... we will see what tonight brings.

I go to see about my other wood parts gun, Woodstock.....she starts to fill and I fire a few shots and pressure starts to climb to about 2700 then “POP”....air out the under the tank I think, I don’t think it was the safety valve.... I’m pretty sure it was the “O” ring on the regulator dial side as when I was screwing it in I saw some rubber shavings and I bet it just popped. It was my fault for not putting in a new “O” ring right away. That “O” ring looked funny from the moment I took it out :-(

So tomorrow instead of hunting, I’ll be working on my guns “O” rings :-((((

I’ll bring my silicone grease, O rings and tank ..... to see if I can get her up and running.

So far I’m happy the first gun has been holding an hour :-)

I had the same problem with the sling swivel front screw not lining up. I loosened everything slightly in order to get it to line up then tightened that first and worked back. now all are tight and it shot nice groups yesterday.
