Get well Brett.

I got 3 of the 9 4' lights hung in the barn. Even though the air temp outside was low, the sun coming in the open end of the metal barn had me down to my shirt. I was even sweating under my hat. Lots of up and down on the 24' ladder. Betty Lou showed up about half way through and was a big help holding the ladder and handing me what I needed.
I hit the switch and the 3 lights came on as they should. The other 6 just daisy chain off of these 3 so they should work just fine. I'll finish up tomorrow.

I showed mom my diagnosis from the orthopedic clinic.  She doesn't get it.  To her I am still a 6'6" 240lb teenaged athlete.  How could a little thing like a torn rotator cuff stop me from digging some footers and setting a couple of 6X6 dock pilings?  Or moving some big slabs of concrete rubble because she doesn't like the way the seawall looks?  She has always had me or one of my equally large siblings around to handle the heavy lifting for her.  Now we're all decrepit old farts.
I'm having my own problems coming to terms with aging.  My mom is 86 and shows no sign of slowing down.  You would think she would have some perspective but it appears that she has her own issues with my aging.

I'm looking forward to retirement and mom is getting ready to buy another fixer-upper house to renovate and sell.  Go figure.

Brett being out in the cold weather dropped my core temp enough for me to fight off a fever too. Thankfully a regiment of supplements helped me fight it off quickly. A good reminder for me to go inside and warm up more regularly. Sounds like you got more firewood from your efforts at least.

I try to do at least a little something each day. Yesterday I cut and split firewood. I'll do more of that after the lights are done.

There's just been a big improvement with the internet I have signal in the house now.
Power's been off almost 12 hours no sign of when it might come back on. I heard on the radio that the electric company is planning more shut offs not talking about turning it back on yet.

Waited until dark and went to the barn. I hit the light switch and I was very impressed with how just 3 lights lit it up. It's gonna be like mid day with the sun shining in there. The metal siding on the walls send the light in all directions.

I worked with a guy that told me when he started coming down with a cold, before bed he'd take a dose of Nyquil, followed by a jigger of 151 Rum.
  NO sign of a cold the next day!

We had winds of 30-40 mph and gusts of 70 mph or more, they subsided now. There is no fire in my immediate area but brush fires are all around the greater Los Angeles basin.
Prayers for all affected!

I called my brother and sister-in-law last night to check on them.
They live in Southern California in the Ontario-Rancho Cucamonga area at the base of the mountains.
So far they are ok and there no fires in there immediate area but they are ready in case, at some point, they have to evacuate too.
