Dropped the water trailer off to get all 4, leaf springs replaced with 6 leave springs. If they break after that I'm going back to 4 leaf springs and some air bags. The problem is the dang dirt road.

And $980 later I have new suspension! ☹️ Now all I have to do is repack the wheel bearing and maybe replace the brakes.☹️☹️ They wanted $300 to repack the wheel bearings plus what ever parts that are needed.

The high dollar repair is the reason I am doing my own repairs on the van. I don't mind doing it either. At least one thing it will be fixed right.

I wasn't comfortable just ordering the parts as I'm a total novice when it comes to trailers. I've only had trailers for the last 2-3 years but I'm learning.😁 The rocker alone with the shackles were replaced with heavy duty ones.

You tube has been my biggest help in some of the repairs on my vehicles and other stuff around the house. A lot of times the comments will have other options or ideas and where to find parts and materials. I do a lot of research before I dive into a project. If I have a step by step visual of how something is removed, the do's and don't during the repairs, and other people's experience that makes it much easier to tackle the task at hand.

I bicycled for the first time in more than a year. It felt good to be riding again, despite the chilly temperature, 40 degrees.

Added distilled water in my truck's battery, which I had not checked in...a loooong time. It did need topping up in three of the six cells. Given that the battery is 5.5 years old (rated for 6 years), I'd better replace it soon rather than be caught by surprise.

Talked to my eldest sister lengthily, and she told me that she and my 38yo niece (in the photo), one of her daughters, would like to visit me.

Haven’t really seen my family in 8 years 

She’s now 70yo and all grey but she has no wrinkles like my 75yo MIL  This is a recent picture.

Madd I've had the not so pleasure of removing old trailer wiring and installing new wiring, lights and boards. Being under a trailer is not my idea of a fun place to do work. Then there was the pleasure of having to go to tire shops each time my uncle used his trailer since he insisted on using his old wore out raggady ***** tires instead of spending money to get new ones which always made the job way longer to get done. With all the hassle you had I hope the thing works well for you once it's all done.

Although she’s married to a multiM, they live a very simple life and eat basically just fish and veggies.

I remember an American expat who rented one of their houses so many years ago. He drastically changed his diet to fruits, veggies, and fish. I used to check on the property every month. Anyway, he suddenly looked 10 or so years younger, no kidding 

It’s that very thing I miss about the PI: the abundance of fresh fruits, veggies, poultry, fish, etc…

 Washed my Dodge pickup truck, well I went through the car wash and then I dried it off. I was pleasantly surprised that all levels of washes are half price for the Moth of December. So, the Premier was was just $9. 

 After getting it dried off I went and got a haircut. I had to use my second choice barber, that usually does it pretty well. He did a lousy job today though. 

OH well, it grows fast and will need a cut again soon enough.

I got the tire changed out and went on to changing the valve on the tank. The valve was a total PITA! The valve was between a 1/4 and 1/2 inch longer. The way it's plumbed into the pump I couldn't get the union (dang unions always making things difficult 😡) to match up. I ended up taking the bolts holding the pump to the trailer and moving the pump around to match up the union. Then I had to find some thinner bolts because the originals wouldn't fit in the holes. That's what took the most time looking through my junk draw to find just the right bolts. 🤬🤬 A hardware store is around 35 miles one way. One of the reasons I had the trailer shop do the job was the lug nuts on the wheels were so tight I had to use a 4 foot cheater pipe to get them loose enough to remove. The tire I changed came loose with a X lug wrench. Before I couldn't budge them.

He was lurking under the water near Vulture Island hoping for a snack.  Rocky’s got a taste for vulture.  Vultures are dumb.  Sorry bird lovers but it’s true.  Buzzards are communal and like to flock together on this little spit of land.  Eventually one will forget about the giant alligator lurking under the water and wander over for a drink.
Then Shawop! Shablam! Maximum checkout!  One more buzzard completes the circle of life.

Just for perspective Rocky is approximately twelve feet long.

Exactly!  Like the alligator equivalent of hors d'oeuvres or finger food!

I was about six feet from him.  He is not shy but he is pretty familiar with me.  Doesn't mean he is friendly.  He started hissing when I got too close.  I had him in a bad spot.  I was behind him (which gators hate) and I had him boxed in the little cove.  He couldn't get out without going past me which he didn't want to do.  I left him be and drove four boat tours past that spot in the course of the day.  On three of those tours I was able to position the boat above Rocky and give the passengers a thrill.

I just look at them long enough to see how to start. If the video starts out with loud music and the person is obnoxious I will just move on to the next one. I am not interested in those that are hung up on themselves and the drama. Most of the automotive vids are pretty civilized and I can get past the slightly out of focus stuff. What really funny sometimes is the comments have better info than the video itself.

Ran errands, made rounds to see mom (73rd b-day) and see pops at the hospital.  Just those things took literally all day!  Started out the house @ 0900 and didn’t get home for the evening until nearly 1900. 

We were supposed to go to Oregon tomorrow and visit Amy for her 24th birthday.  I’ll be staying home to help mom and pops while the others go celebrate.  I’ll work on the bath/laundry project when I can during the day.  Wish I could go shoot the boom sticks…

Yesterday I aggravated various orthopedic injuries and overstressed myself.  Climbing ladders with cement pavers, shovels, and lumber.  I dug two huge holes that required much chopping and hacking of roots with dirty great axes and chainsaws.  I set two 6X6 dock pilings and called it good.  Of course I did not sleep last night because of the resulting pain.  This morning I dropped 400 milligrams of Hydrocodone bracketed with some speed for protective escort.  A big ol' rip on the pipe got everything properly adjusted.  Right now I'm cruising at about 30,000 feet and enjoying the ride.

Better living through chemistry!

Yesterday I got a new battery for my truck. PITA studying what fits and what is available. The installer had to put a spacer under the battery because the terminals are recessed below the rest of the battery's top.

I used to get Optima Red Tops until too many failed prematurely. They used to be really good a long time ago.

The wet cell battery just replaced worked well and lasted more than 5 years but I don't like so much riding on the caps over the cells being tight. Too bad they don't use screw lids for each cell. So, back to AGM battery but not Optima.
