 So far I have just admired my wife's dedication to stitching and ability. She made Christmas stockings for us and our kids when they were little. Now the granddaughter who has 8 kids and is pregnant ask her to please make her family 11 Christmas stockings! 

 Most of the ones my wife made have been large crazy quilt style (one kid requested a knit stocking). Yesterday she made 11 front panels with their names embroidered on them. So, all she has left is to sew the backs and hooks on 10 of them the 11th will have to wait for a name since the baby is due in March of next year.

 She is also doing an embroidered 2024 Journal. Everyday she embroiders some little "icon" that represents something special seen or done about that day. Yesterdays has 11 tiny stockings in an area less than the size of a quarter, they look like quilted stockings too.    I am very impressed at the tiny details!

 I finally got a pic of the finished stockings. These are for Husband, wife, and their 8 kids and the extra is for the unnamed unborn that is on the way too.

Outta bed 0645.  Coffee and pumpkin bread so far this AM.  I have 5 days off!  It’s much need since I’ve been at work most of the time since Monday November 18th.  We had some wind come through and caused a lot of damage to our system.  The lights are all on with all of the storm repair residuals coming in.  Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍁🍽

The stockings she made for others in the past were fancier, (some with beads, buttons, lace etc...  but with all the other things she is making for Christmas she kept these simple, and the stockings could be more decorated by the ones who receive them if they want to. I like them as they are now and think they will likely leave them as is too.

Well I got the 1000 gallons but when I was almost to the dirt road home 1 of the new leaf springs broke.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬  Just as I crossed the last cattle guard it snapped.🤬🤬🤬🤬 I'd figure they'd snap on the dirt road not on the street. I never thought one of the newer 3500lb springs would be the one to snap. I was expecting one of the old 2500 springs would be the one to snap.

They started after the pandemic, tractor supply was even closed. I will wait till Sunday to pick up feed. I will go to B town to get it. Already lost one vehicle to an idiot this week in PC, I don't need to loose the other one right now either.

 About 3:30 I dropped some pies off by my cousin at the next town over, 2 gas stations and the Dollar General were still open, not sure about the bars but back in the day I could find a few. Gas stations sell liquor

My husband and I hiked at the local friendly national park, Mesa Verde. Off season after the campground closes is delightfully quiet. Although the hiking trails we had planned to travel were mucky and icy, the absence of motor vehicle traffic made walking every paved loop of the campground area a fine alternative.

About an inch of snow on half the paved road surface revealed plentiful critter tracks suggesting not only where the makers went but also how hurriedly and sometimes in pursuit of what.

The only vehicle that drove by, at the end of 2+ hours, belonged to the park concession operator.

You live near Mesa Verde?  I thought I was lucky.  That’s a great place!  I’m also a big fan of Gran Chaco, and Canyon de chelly.  I lived in SoCal for years and worked as a museum anthropologist and in the motion picture industry ( long story).  I traveled all over the four corners looking for petroglyphs in the late nineties.  What beautiful country!

LOL, and here I was gazing wistfully at your autumnal foliage, calm waters, and manatees, while you were dreaming of the beauties specific to MY locale! I love the variety of environments within the USA.

We visited Santa Barbara this past February. I could hardly believe that SB alone boasted SEVEN movie theaters in a small area. Lots of fascinating history in SoCal, too. I didn't know that the Max Fleishman described in one of the museums was the same one whose name still adorns a common household product...or that his family had started in a very different kind of consumable.

I do consider myself lucky to live near Mesa Verde NP, and even closer to Canyons of the Ancients NM. People still discover bits from the lives of earlier occupants, and I'm not talking about the mere 100 to 150 years ago that some European descendents like to brag about.

We lost our golden retriever boy this morning. It's not fair that we've lost 2 dogs in 8 days but at least he died at home in my wife's arms.😭😭

Madd that's rough sure nuff. Best way to go out right there though! The house is going to feel mighty different now with 2 gone in a week mercy I wouldn't wish that on anybody. I'm glad you're a pet sitter where you have other critters to enjoy. I used to pet sit and those critters helped get me through rough times too.

Yesterday I saw holes dug under my shop shelf so I cleared the shelf off and lifted the heavy board to find a skunk 3ft away from me. Dropped the board and got my shotgun then lifted it so the skunk could run away then I grabbed the gun and let loose my dogs. No more skunk. Covered the holes thinking problem solved then today holes dug again so I lifted the board then a giant pack rat ran away so I tagged him with the shotgun too. Covered the accesses underneath the shelf with boards to block critters from wanting to dig in the dirt below. Hope that took care of the issue. Removed a huge stash of big acorns from under there so they wouldn't attract critters too.

Dang Robert!  Our condolences.  There seems to be a lot of that going around right now.

I protected the environment.  It's my job.  I had a boat load of High school kids today.  Gifted program.  Smart kids.  I gave them the "everyone lives down stream program".  In a nutshell "tell your parents not to muddy the waters around us for we may have to drink them soon".

I live for groups like that.

Most days I have the best job in Florida.  Some days I have the best job in the world.
