Got tired of messing with old worn out chainsaws so I stopped at TSC and bought a shiny new Husqvarna 120 14". It will handle anything I cut around here,

My grandfather had an old chainsaw that I remember weighed a ton.  Gave it to my father.  Decent sized bar, but it was too heavy and unmanageable. 

I ended up getting a Poulan or something like that and haven't looked back.  May not have been as durable, but at least I could safely handle it without getting fatigued quickly.  Last thing you want is to be bone tired handling a chainsaw.  That's makes it more likely for things to go bad.  Have to say that I got my money's worth out of it.  Still have it, nearly 30 years later.  Wonder if it still works?

I also bought a can of premix 50.1 chainsaw fuel and a qt, of bar and chain oil. No gas station fuel will ever be used in this one.
I got lots of fallen branches and limbs around here to cut up for the shop wood stove.

I turned the utility/pantry back over to Betty Lou and she is filling and organizing it to suit her.
If I know Betty Lou it will go through many changes before she is happy.
Anything in paper or plastic is in the large totes away from mice. We do live in the woods and they find a way in.

I hooked the Billy Goat power blower up to a UTV and cruised around the park today blowing leafs off all the roads.  On the slacker scale this is just above hiding in the woods all day. But it’s about all I’m good for until I get off light duty.  Of course at the end of the day I still had to close down the park and clean all the rest rooms but I passed on any heavy lifting or toting.

 I drove about 1,000 miles today, in 14 hours behind the wheel. My 03 Dodge Ram Cummins got 25.8 mpg average this trip, which was 3,196 miles.

My husband and I hiked a favorite set of trails at our backyard National Park, Mesa Verde. The crowds have thinned and the weather was fine. The seasonal transition after a very hot summer capped by monsoons juxtaposed all stages of Gambel oak, partly depending on exposure and elevation. Glossy green leaves, blazing pure red leaves, turning-orange leaves, and dead brown leaves. Flowers of intense purples and yellows. Charred trunks of trees burned in massive fires many years ago, jutting coal black amidst the colorful splashes from the shrubs and flowers. The ponderosas drank in the late summer rains, because their long needles practically glow with vigorous green.

All we need to complete the color array is a dusting of fresh snow on the ruddy cliffs.

I was only able to hide in the woods part of the day, then a call came in for me to hop on the zero turn and mow areas around the pumpkin patches, yes it is officially pumpkin season

Nice and quiet on the work front.  I cleaned out the inside of my car.  I just got a chip in the windshield and was going to repair it but the resin was empty when I went to drop it in.  I’ll have to get another rock chip repair kit and get that taken care of soon before the crack starts to run

Sweet! I don't get much more mileage than that out of my v6 nearly 4000lb car(usually 32mpg with my heavy foot). Was your truck heavy laden with gear?

Amazon delivered today. In the box was the new DeWalt 12" blade for the chop saw and the new DVR for the security camera system. I got that set up to replace the old one that puked. This one has a few more features such as human detection. When it detects a human it takes a series of close up facial pics and stores them. Betty Lou was 20' + out in the yard when she came into view of that camera and it snapped 5 pics of her face in various positions. It followed her all the way to the front door taking pics. The old one didn't have that feature.
