Lightning storm struck the house yesterday evening while I was at my mother's house and got the old 80s microwave melted spreading toxic fumes all thru the house. I got there opened all the doors while holding my breath and got fans going to blow fresh air in the house. Discovered the smoking microwave and pulled it out of the house. Opened it's door and it started burning so I hosed it down. Almost lost my house but thank God I got home when I did! Left the fans and vents running all night to get the stench out of the house and replaced the AC filter that was filthy from the toxic fumes. Inside the microwave it looked like the light on top melted it's plastic lens which then started burning the rag and oven gloves I had in the microwave since I never used it.

I am glad the damage was minimal.

We had another major thunderstorm hit yesterday at around 5 pm.
Luckily the 3 tornadoes associated with this storm missed my place.
I could see the shelf and wall cloud from my house as they passed overhead.
I'll be doing more yard clean up today and more burning of downed tree branches.

After a lifetime of accumulating random stuff (some amazing, some useful, some junk) we've decided that we got to clean out some of this stuff.   So each week when I go to the dump, I try to bring a box of stuff we'll never use and leave it on the  "free stuff" table.  Can't say how many years this will take.   Fairly often I discover one of those amazing things that had been buried and forgotten for a couple decades and decide to hang onto it for now.  Unfortunately I occasionally discover something I want at the "free stuff" table and bring it home.   Like lately I've been bringing home flat, kitchen stuff to hang from trees and shoot at.

My wife and I were at our grandson's High School soccer game when the storm rolled in.
The sirens went off announcing a severe  thunderstorm then a few minutes later they went off again announcing tornadoes.
We took off and headed home. The High School is only about 4 miles from our house.
First we saw the shelf cloud about 1/8 th of a mile from the house.
We got about 2 blocks away from home when we saw the wall cloud overhead.
Very scary, as we could see the rotation of a tornado in the sky.
It touched down shortly after about a mile away.

I had a breaker trip from our storms, and some of the hail was pea sized. I’ll take those over toxic gases any day. I hope you got the air cleared out today.

Thanks guys. Air is cleared out but smell of burnt rag still remains in kitchen so spraying more hunter's scent killer around and running vent and fan.

No yard work today so had plenty of time to spend hours online researching and ordering a ton of needed items and feels good to finally have them ordered and off my to do list.

We don't go out to see a movie often, once or twice a year. The reason it is that often is that for about the last 12 years we have take all my kids their spouses and grandchildren that are available to see a movie on/for Christmas.
