Betty Lou just called... she is safely in Ohio with her momma.
But there is bad news... her momma had a Dr. appt. today to get test results. They gave her 3 to 6 months. Not much they can do.
On the other hand.. they gave my mom 6 months and she lived and functioned for 2 years. When she went down it was only 2 weeks until she passed.

So sorry to hear, Bill!

So as I said earlier, I set out on a mission this morning to find a woodstove for the shop. The plan was to catch up with Sheriff West at the local diner joint where I knew I would find him (he's predictable). I pulled out onto the hard road and down down around the corner is Baker's Towing. I whipped it in and found Ronnie, the owner in the front lot. "Hey Ronnie, you happen to have an old woodstove around here?"
He said "Yeah, theres only right over there, go look at it."
It was on the ground with no legs on it. I looked inside and there was the legs. Cool.
"How much?"
"Open your tail gate and I'll help you load it up, you can have it".
That's the way we roll here in lower Alabama. If your neighbor needs something and you have it you help him out.
So I went on down to "Tater's" with woodstove loaded and caught up with Charles. I was telling him about the stove and he said he also had one out in his barn I could get. I told him thanks but I don't need 2.

Wen to Lowes and picked up stove pipe. They had all but one elbow. All good, I'll get one.. ain't like I'm going to put a fire in it for a couple months anyways.

LOL... yeah, I can't believe I just pulled into Ronnie's, he was standing outside and the stove was sitting not 25' away. He said they just picked it up someplace in a scrap load.
It's almost like he knew I was coming, knew what I wanted and had it sitting out for me.

Flippin' good stove pipes are expensive. I paid almost $80 for 5 24" sections and 1 elbow. I still need one more elbow (Lowes was out of them). I'm going to make my own chimney top hat. I already have a damper and metal for the wall heat shield collar.
I'm gonna go 4' up, 2' out through the wall and 4' up to be above the roof.
I have some 1/4" expanded metal and a small aluminum round dish pan to make the top hat out of.

I have a bunch of cast iron too, including a Griswold griddle I got for 75 cents around 1976. I use it for pancakes, but the little lady won’t cook with any of it. Says it is too heavy. Nothing cooks as well as cast iron.
