Had Bible Study tonight at Church, and about a half hour after getting back to the house killed a Rattlesnake that Hank was TOO interested in. He used to be very afraid of snakes and now for some reason he is more curious than afraid, it looks like he really wants to sniff them, not good!
 It was about 47 inches long, judging by holding the decapitated snake up to the 4' chain link fence around our front yard. FYI - I wear size 12 shoes.

The battery for the Kodiak seems to be taking the scenic route to get here. I pulled the battery out of the Rancher and put it in the Kodiak so I could move it out of the shop. I'll put the new battery in the Rancher when it shows up. They both use virtually the same battery. The Rancher does not block the roll up door to the shop in it's garage, the Kodiak does.
While I had it out I took a ride down the trail through the woods to the barn. Looks like it will get it's first duty as the workhorse. There are some limbs down on the trail blocking one of the 2 ways around. I'll load the tools in the box for the job and wait to see what the weather has in store. We still have thunderstorms predicted until next Wednesday. I don't like to be in the old growth woods during these storms. They begin with strong winds and then the lightening and heavy rain comes.

The antifreeze makes some sense because of the glycerin, but I want to preserve the natural color so I will just buy some clear pure glycerin and some rubbing alcohol, I use 50%-50% to treat it. I have done it 4 times in the past.

City boy!! 😂 I do live out in the middle of nowhere where you have to have a 4x4 to get out or home at least 6 months of the year and I have no idea what to use on the snake skin. I could probably ask my Navajo buddy about it.

Family Day at work.  We headed in early and had breakfast sandwiches, coffee and treats by the river.  We then headed into my workplace and took part in the festivities and made our rounds to all of the other families there.  I showed off my bucket truck to the kids and tools (once again) and made out way to the gym to punch BOB. After the rounds we graciously bowed out, grabbed iced coffee for the trip home and now we are next door at our oldest daughter’s place enjoying the company.

My kill was not airgun related. It was under our Pomegranate tree when I shot it from about 5' with snake shot. I really couldn't see it very well, but it was rattling really loud. I was actually surprised I made a one-shot instant kill on it, since I didn't have a better view of it. It was in the yard with Hank when he saw it and just 3' outside the fence when I shot it. It's head took some shot and I hit its heart too. The way my shot hit was by chance perfect for the instant kill without messing up the skin too badly. I didn't mess with the head. It got cut off with a shovel and put down a gopher hole.

The rattles were not intact, Oh well! It would have been nice to see the whole rattle though since now I don't know how much is missing.

That's the largest Copperhead I've ever seen. Wow!
I was bitten by a juvenile Copperhead when I was a child. The young ones are more dangerous as they dump all their venom on a single bite while the mature ones reserve venom for multiple bites.
