Quote from: Lt. Dan on July 02, 2024, 10:40:58 AMWhat horsepower rating was on the Husky that's now on the Snapper? Did I understand you that the Husky engine has less hp than what was on the 360c? Is the snapper 36" or 42" cut. Enquiring minds want to know. Both mowers are 48" cut. The B/S motor that was on the 360z was a 23 hp twin and the Kaw motor from the Husky is an 18hp twin. I had recently put a new carb on it and it has a fresh oil change and filter. I asked Mike about the reduced HP with putting the 18hp on it and he said it should be just fine. I might have been concerned if I was still mowing the full 4 acres but now that I'm only mowing 1/4 acre or so it's won't be a problem. We have been clearing woods in the back and will eventually have 1/2 acre of grass to cut. The mobility of the zturn will be much better than the Husky moving around and between the trees and tight spaces.

The only place the 23HP helps us is in going up the hills faster/easier. It just means I don't have to choose my route now. 17HP was enough power to spin the tires on the steepest hills though with turf tires and it would climb with Carlisle Super Lugs on it. Bottom line 17HP did the job OK.
Why does this thread always turn into a deck measuring contest?
Dropped 650 bucks between the liquor store the auto parts store and the grocery store. First of the month. Now I'm out in the art cave working on a Steam punk comic book page. 37mm Hotchkiss five barreled rotating cannon being fired by two voluptuous ladies in lingerie. That's why I love being an artist. I can draw anything I want to.
Got 2 more 4x8 sheets laid and screwed down in the shop. One of them were cut to fit between locker cabinets that already had plywood under them and the other notched for 4x4 posts. All the tools and spare parts cleaned up and put away from the motor swap. The Husky and all the parts are loaded on the trailer and ready to drop at Mike's when the all done call comes in. One more partial sheet of plywood to put down and that job is done.Next on the list is loading the big trailer and getting ready for free dump day on the 2nd Saturday of the month. It's also time to mow the barn property. Maybe tomorrow depending on weather. It's been a productive 3 days and my old body is about toast.
Where did you paddle Pat?
Where did you paddle Pat?Well I got out of bed. I went to bed around 0400 and got up about noon. Now I’m surfing the forum and contemplating brunch. Plans are to exercise the pups and paint.
