Well, Mike the lawnmower repair guy never got back to me. It's been nearly a week and I would have expected at least a phone call by now if he was interested. He sounded favorable to the proposed deal. I am not one to hound or beg someone to do something so I'm not going to call him... he knows the deal.So Betty Lou and I discussed it and we are going to do a motor swap our selves. Between Mike's shared knowledge and watching you tube videos I am sure it's a drop in swap between the Husqvarna motor and the Snapper motor. And it really don't look that hard to do. I will be going down some in horse power but we only have around 1/4 acre of actual grass to mow on our property. The 1+ acre at the barn can be mowed with the eXmark. We're going to begin this project today. I have already cleaned and made space in the Red Shed for the job. I have all the air tools and lifts to make the job as easy as possible. The A/C will be a huge plus.First in will be the Husqvarna to pull the motor and take it outside to power wash it. I'm going to drop the deck to make it easier to move around. Once that is out of the way we'll tackle the Snapper. I'm going to drop that deck as well. It will get greased and new blades while I have it out.
I got the motor off the Husky with very little problems. I was even able to lift it off the frame by hand. Betty Lou was a big help in handing me tools because my problem is getting up and down from the floor with my broken old body. We pulled it out of the shop with the atv and pushed the Snapper in.I got the whole top side disconnected then raised it up to get to the under side stuff. That's where I hit my first snag. The Husky had a hole in the pulley to wedge a screw driver into stopping the motor from turning to get the bolt out. The Snapper does not. That's when My body told me it was time to stop for the day. After grabbing a bite to eat and pondering on my options I remembered that this motor is junk and I don't have to be nice to it. So tomorrow I will pull the flywheel cover and jam something in the flywheel fins to stop the motor from turning.Everything looks like it will be a straight up swap from the B/S 23 hp twin to the Kawasaki 18hp twin. The only thing I see I need to address is the choke cable. The Kaw has a separate choke cable and the B/S is integrated in one lever. I will need to make a linkage if I can't use what is there.... or I can install a separate pull choke. My other possible issue may be a game changer. I have yet to get eyes on that shaft to see if it will match up. Mike the mower guy says it will. Other than that I am 5 bolts away from pulling the B/S motor.

When you turn the motor over the rope will be pushed against the head and stop it from turning. I have no problem getting down it's just how many bruses I'll have afterwards.😁😁🤕
Or, since it's a junk motor, just pull the plug and screw a long bolt in to stop the piston.

Thanks Gil.. I got plenty of rope around here. I'll get it done in the morning. Then I'll pull the mower and the motor out of the shed and get them both cleaned up before putting them back together. I'm considering loading them on the trailer and taking them to the local car wash. I'll see what Simple Green and the jet setting on the garden hose will do first.
