I pray that you were spared damage from the storms and were able to get some sleep. I've waited up a many a night during severe thunderstorms, high winds, and tornado watches and warnings. It was straight line winds that took a huge oak down in my front lawn.

I am OK. 
As far as I can tell this morning, I came thru the storms without any damage.
Just very heavy rain at my place and lots of lightening.
I did not get the strong winds and the closest tornado was 3 miles north of me.
Several tornados were on the ground yesterday and last night but not here.
I am not quite sure yet how much rain. I got but it was quite a bit.
The road in front of my place looked like a river during the storm, with several inches water.
The area that I live in is not subject to such flooding as there is lots of peat bogs in my area.
The water on my road runs down hill and into one of those bogs.
The bogs around my place absorb all the water and then gradually release it into the St. Croix River.

Now the heat and humidity is going to set in.
The temps today are supposed to reach around 85 to 88 today and humid.

I did 3 hours of cleaning up magnolia leaves, sweeping, and washed the siding, then called it a day for the place in town. I guess the squirrel made different plans than I had.

 The green waste can was full of leaves so, I didn't trim the hedges, roses, and other bushes today. The green waste can will be emptied later today. The trimming is going to have to wait, and I put off the insecticide spraying too. Tomorrow, I promised my wife a motorcycle ride and a relaxing day together so, I need to clean up the bike and have it ready to go.

I HATE THAT MAGNOLIA TREE MESS! If it wasn't a city tree I'd remove it.

I hear ya Dan... I am down to 5 Magnolia trees here and they will all be gone when I'm done. I've been told it's bad luck to cut down a Magnolia tree by the locals. The way I see it, it's bad luck to have them on your property.

It's a southern tradition to plant one in the yard. If you look hard enough you will find them around churches, cemeteries, court houses, and large plantation homes in the area. Yes they are messy but the sweet fragrance of the flowers and the shade it provides is worth the aggravation.

I'm at my daughter and SIL's house pet sitting my grand fur babies. The wife texted me this morning that a lighting strike hit a big tree about 2 miles from the house and there is/was a fire. She's driving over to find out if it's out or? Waiting to find out what is going on.🧐 There was buckets of rain and hail coming down last night and of course the roofers didn't have the roof on the house yet.🤬🤬🤬 It always happens this way! when one of us isn't home.


Well , I got the full story now. It was only 1/3 to 1/2 mile from the house. Wife called 911 and kept getting the run around as to who is suppose to respond. Luckily the neighbors kid is a volunteer firefighter from seligman. Him and his dad went out and took care of things until the seligman volunteer fire department showed up to put it out. Seligman is over 20 miles away and probably the furthest of the 3 volunteer fire departments.🤬🤬 Oh, and I guess it only sprinkled a little along with hail.

 I have a magnolia in my front yard where I live also and although I don't like the mess on the ground it's not too bad, the mower grinds them up pretty good.
 
 The tree at the place in town is located between the neighbor's and our driveway 6' from the curb so, it drops it's mess on the driveway and the leaves mostly blow into the carport and onto the front rock lawn. So they all have to be cleaned up.
 If I lived there I would just clean up leaves as they drop but since I am not there everyday the leaves are a big mess when I am.

I put the smaller lower Craftsman roller cabinet in the casting shed the other day. The plan was to also use it as a rolling shooting bench but it just didn't feel right. So I re confiscated Betty Lou small folding painting table and we'll grab her a new one next week when we are in town.
I decided to put a set of tools together for the casting shed. (Through the years I have amassed enough hand tools to put several complete sets together including Allen keys and socket sets) I cleaned out the upper chest for that lower. It had become a catch all for odds and ends. Then I put a set together and it will on top of the lower in the casting shed. I also have 3 or 4 Dremel sets and I can put one of those in a drawer as well.
A hot glue gun, soldering iron and other handy items will be included as well.
While in town next week I'm going to stop at Harbor Freight and pick up some oring kits and other odds and ends.

I cut my yard yesterday with my Bad Boy ZT 60". Wednesday I had changed the hydrostatic transaxle filters and oil and had a heck of a time getting the air out of the left one. It finally purged itself.

Today I did the trimming. Shrubs, trees, house, shop, pond, driveway, ditches.  Two tank fulls of gas and replaced the string once.

I'm pooped. I'm calling it a day.

Back to fixing lawn toys again, the string mower decided not to run right. So I took the carb off and threw in the sonic cleaner, cleaned out the air filter, and found the culprit of the motor not running right. The governor spring was about to break in half. I have stainless steel leader for fish and made a new spring for it. Adjusted the belt tension and it was back to mowing again. It's just to hot right now and I will finish mowing when it cools down some.

I got the memsahib some premix for her weed smacker.  That's about as close as I'm gonna come to doing yard work.

Ya'll are all mad you know.  The stuff just grows back.  There's no end of it.  Repeating the same actions while hoping for a different outcome is the definition of lunacy.  Besides it's hotter than Texas out there (Mad dogs and Yankees etc.).

I'm holed up in the man cave/studio/bunker hiding out from La Esposa and the Iron Maiden.  The offspring is on the warpath for temperance.  I think she's channeling Sister Amy Semple or maybe Cary Nation.  Anyhoo  I got a bottle hid out here that they didn't find and me and my buddy Sailor Jerry are gonna hang out tonight.

Sometimes realizing that you raised your kid right is a bummer.

I sprayed 4 gallons of herbicide on the rock lawn in addition to whacking the weeds. Hopefully that will keep them under for the summer.
