We bought a 7.5 cf chest freezer at Walmart on sale for $128 more than 6 years ago. It's spent it's entire life out on the covered deck or in the screened in porch and has worked flawlessly. It's the perfect size for just the 2 of us.

Bill, I bought a Haier 5 cu.ft. freezer in 2000 and it is still working to this day, it's in my shop. I was living in a travel trailer at the time and I needed a freezer that wouldn't take up much space in the shop. I use it for overflow from the other freezer.

Been looking at up right freezers. Anybody got any recommendations? Lol I've been reading customer reviews and so far haven't found 1 that has any where close to 100% 5 star reviews. I know some of them are BS winey baby stuff but some are real concerning. Like compressors dieing after just 1 or 2 years. Circut boards needing to be replaced so false alarms won't be going off every 6 to 12 hrs. It's so frustrating! I'm also sure there's some feed backs that are BS put on there to make the product look bad so a competitors will look better. 🤬😡🤬😡

I own a Frigidaire 13cu.ft., so far no problems with it. Bought before the hurricane hit. Lightning killed my other one and it was the same model. I am not to crazy about the newer ones because of all the bells and whistles they come with now but if I had to buy another one it would be a Frigidaire.

Up at 5:30 Am.
Worked in the house until 8:30 am then went outside to work.
I fertilized and seeded the lawn this morning then I laid down insecticide granules this morning.
The Mosquitoes are out in Full Force now.
Up next is to slitter seed and fertilize in the back yard then plant flowers.
My wife and I have been planting flowers all week.


As to Appliances , I have a Frigidaire freezer that I bought in 1975 that is still running great.
I recently gave away a working Sears Refrigerator that was made in 1952 that I had owned since 1975.
Both are and were spare units.
I would have kept the refrigerator but I needed the space in the garage for the freezer.
I have a newer Refrigerator and Freezer in the house.

Tommy, I have a 39 year old Kenmore washing machine and a 20 year old Kenmore dryer. Both are manual knob nothing electronic.


Robert, I was literally off grid when the hurricane hit, I would zero the freezer and run it on the generator for 8 hours and then turn it off for the night due to noise curfew. Did that for 4 weeks until I got my power back on. Never lost anything in the freezer the whole time. You might look into a timer for it, that is one possibility. Also my freezer door can be locked which comes in handy for possibility of food shifting and knocking the door open.

I had an older 1994 era washer & dryer and a 1973 era Sears electric stove that I replaced with newer stuff.
The stove worked pretty good still.
The washer and dryer were Maytag commercial units.
The dryer I had rebuilt 10 years ago and it was working great.
The timer needed to be replaced on the washer, which I could have easily done. 
My wife is 78 and just wanted new stuff before she died so I said OK and we got the the new stuff.

Kris, I have a commercial grade Fork lift battery that my inverter converts to AC after the sun goes down along with a back up 14k watt generator that turns on if the power goes below a certain point. It's all automatic and the only time I have a power outage is when I've tried to pull to much power out of the inverter. It will just shut down if I demand more than 4000 watts at 1 time. It's taken me almost 4 years to finally figure out everything about it and I'm sure there's a few more surprises to find out.😂🤣😂🤣 Right now I've got so much power available that even the wife watching TV until 1am and running the drier or washer the battery is in float before noon. Float means the battery is completely charged for those don't know. I didn't know all of the terms when we first moved in here. I've got 12 2600watt panels on the roof of the garage.

Scott no they weren't those old Pipers which btw my dad trained in them back in the day so thanks for the pic that brought back a good memory. These were 70's Cherokees. I looked up the owner and it was an elderly man flying with his wife enjoying a pretty day together up there. I've never had the weed eater attack me like that while running at idle when removing a tangle ouch! You use that larger diamond shape line that sounds like a nest of giant ticked off wasps at WOT? That stuff don't play.

Just came in from weed Whacking but no I didn't try to get the string untangled.lol Did about 2 hrs worth but couldn't keep going.🤕 Here's before and after.
I did keep weed whacking after that but didn't get a picture.
The first picture was taken from the driveway and the second was from the fence line.

 I had a line cutter break off my old Craftsman weed whacker once, it allowed the line to advance to where it whipped my calf like that! I got a few more lashes than you did though. I am glad it was my leg and not my hand though! I know that smarted!

Well, the skin cancer just got a whole lot more complicated. The VA is sending me to get a pet scan to see if the melanoma has spread before doing any cutting. Man, I'm so lucky to have a retired wound care nurse for a wife. Being the medical dummy that I am I would have just let them do the cutting and would have no idea if it had spread. The problem is the doctor doesn't know how thick the melanoma is. It's been found if it's thinner than a certain amount that it wouldn't spread. I think he said it's about a half a millimeter which is around.018 of an inch. They will be checking limph nodes also. I know they did that on my son when he had his removed.
