I was trimming a shrub with my brand new 24" battery hedge trimmer and I fell off the ladder. I was on the 3rd step and the ground wasn't level but having worked off of ladders for many years I thought I would be alright. Wrong.
A felt it starting to tip and it seemed to happen in slow motion, so I jumped off. My feet hit first, but I wasn't upright and fell on my tailbone and then my head hit. I didn't brace myself well because like an idiot I tried to keep the trimmer from getting damaged. Man am I sore all over but it could have been much worse. Those blades are shape.
This yard is gonna kill me.

Jerry, I'm glad you didn't get hurt badly and saved the trimmer too! It could've worse.... as I found out the hard way

On March 15 I decided to trim a branch that fell halfway onto the driveway. Grabbed the ladder and chainsaw, put the ladder under the tree and started climbing it.... and that's where the film broke. I have no recollection of what happened next or for the following 5 days.
 I woke up in the hospital with my wife's voice gently asking me to wake up.
 According to my wife, I called her to ask for help. I told her I must've pulled a muscle in my back. When she walked out, she found me on the ground and blood pouring from my head. She called 911, they came and after stabilizing me transported me to the nearest trauma center where she was told I was in trouble! (no kidding!!)
Skipping the details, I had massive internal bleeding, subarachnoid and subdural hematomas ( my noggin took a beating), a broken spine, multiple broken ribs and both lungs were punctured. What followed next was three surgeries in three consecutive days: day 1 was a 4 hour surgery to stop the internal bleeding and remove the ruptured spleen, Day2 was patching up the inside, lungs and all, that was only a 2.5 hours deal. Day 3 was to address the broken spine. The entire surgery on day 3 was about 7.5 - 8 hours, they fused my spine and then stapled me together.
I had both lungs punctured, both clavicles broken, 7 broken ribs on the left side and 2 broken ribs on the right side and of course the broken spine. My wife knew it was bad but never really realized how close I came to being a quadriplegic or not being at all. The spine fracture is at T3 -T4.
 My guardian angels did an awesome job in keeping me alive but I'm told they're on vacation now and asked for a transfer
 I am home now, six weeks after the last surgery, waiting for Kaiser to lineup the physical therapy people. I walk with a walker and as frustrating as that is, I feel blessed to walk at all.

The part that perturbed me off is she just brought about 10 of those potted flowers home that day and put them in the garden. She should've known it was going to get cold

Not today but yesterday I was presented with the opportunity to use my spare tire and see just how Bell tire customer service is. They plugged my tire for free. It was not fun changing a tire on i75 with traffic whizzing past at 70+.

I heard the pink pisshhhh while in the far left lane checked my tpms and sure enough one tire was dropping fast. The guy to my right had a bewildered look on his face. I got over safely and got after it.

I agree but fortunately the part of 75 I was on the left shoulder is just as big as the right. I am more grateful it wasn't a steer tire that can go sideways fast.

Last time I changed a tire was on my tundra on the I40 and it was the driver side front. I'd never changed a tire on the tundra before so had to figure out where everything was. Heck, it took me 15 minutes just to figure out how to get the spare tire out from under the bed.😡😡😡🤬 Luckily we had a small compressor to fill the spare back up as it hadn't been touched since it was brand new and was really low. My ranger is so much simpler to change a tire on.

So far not much.  We have some colds going around the house so we are staying back from church today so we don’t pass anything on and who really wants to be sitting around listening to people cough, sniffle and blow their noses.  We will be there in spirit and worshipping together in our living room through a screen. 📺

Just finished pumping 350 gallons into the holding tanks and going to go get another 1000. That'll just about fill them up. I've got to petsit from tomorrow through Saturday so want to leave the wife with full tanks of water.

 So far just sermon prep, then Sunday School and AM Church. Now I am back home and thinking about lunch as my wife is making something. I don't know what yet but, it smells good.

 Yesterday I did more yardwork, and bought replacements for the chainsaw and mower that I ruined too.
 I bought another Honda mower and a Ryobi Brushless chainsaw.

Went for an oil change and tire rotation on the Corolla this AM.  Whilst that was occurring Mrs P and Iwent out for a coffee and a breakfast pastry.  Picked up the car, headed to a thrift store that didn’t open until 1000.  Headed up the hill to WallyWorld and bought three inexpensive baking sheets to shoot at.  Went home, loaded some junky fence boards that were given to me from an online order at Lowe’s.  I was also shorted 25 boards in that order.  They made it all right.  I bought 45 more boards to complete the fence, a box of nails and I came home again.  I was able to dril some holes in the baking sheets and ran some wire through them so I could hang them for shooting.  I was able to run some BBs through the gun and try out the new metal targets.  They will be great for that audible “hit” TING!  Headed into work early to get a workout in and now I’m here until 2300.  Back at it tomorrow morning 0700 for a 16 hour shift. 

What's that cost? I wouldn't know as I've been changing my oil for decades now ever since they were charging $25 for oil changes and tearing up a lot of things where I decided to do it myself so nothing got tore up anymore. The oil n filter cost for me is around $50 these days. Ridiculous.

America’s Tires/Discount Tires give free rotations when you buy from them. They offer a small discount to veterans and active duty when purchasing. So I have them do the rotation and go elsewhere for the oil change. If you have a driveway, you can put a Fumoto valve at the drain and make it easy to do your own oil changes. I live in the sticks and don’t want to lay in gravel, so I pay for the oil change. Just an FYI.
