Did some kayak fishing out in Millington TN

Congrats that looks like a quite peaceful time with a good meal out of it too! Is that a Sevylor kayak? I had one of theirs back in the day too kayaking on the lake. I had a electric pump which aired it up quick. I liked being able to deflate and drive it home without tying it to the top of the car.

I had a electric pump which aired it up quick. I liked being able to deflate and drive it home without tying it to the top of the car.

It's an Aquaglide Blackfoot 130. I have 15yr old sevylor rio but I don't use it that much anymore because it's not really designed for fishing. The Aquaglide inflates to 6psi and is stiff enough for me to stand on compared to the 1.5psi on the sevlyor. I don't like messing with a hard shell either and it's really easy to inflate and move these things.

 Oven is removed, the space will be filled with 2 smaller ovens to give more baking options.

 Prior to finishing the removal, I had a crew of 6 help pick up 3 ton of paver bricks that were donated by a neighbor on the lake, about a mile trip down a dead end. Bricks had to be lifted from their placement, and palleted.

I piloted four boat tours on the river.  After the nine inch rain event the other day the river is running high and fast.  The winter manatee are gone and the water is black as coffee.  Most of the birds have disappeared too.  Gators are getting harder to find.  It's these new boats we're running.  The wildlife hates them and have upped anchor and moved down stream.

Not even as much fun as laying too waiting for better weather to make the run across Cook Strait.  There's an image to stir the imagination!

What don't they like about the new boats?

Mr. Ball launched five new boats in 1968.  We took them out of service in 2023.  ALL of the wildlife along the river has grown up and spent their entire lives with the "old" boats.  The new boats are bigger and noisier.  They make much more wake too so there is more wash along the banks.  These boats were not designed for this duty.  They are too big and entirely too clumsy.  Some of them are very poorly designed.  We refer to the "Great Blue Heron"  as the Great Big Horror or the Government Buzzard Hotel because the Vultures love to roost on it at night.

It was deader than Elvis out there today.  No Manatee, no birds, and hardly an alligator to shake a stick at.  I piloted four boat tours and hardly saw anything.  This ain't right.  It's spring and we should be up to our park service green beheinies in baby critters.

Here something to ponder, I have noticed it as well. It's all the rain, flooding, and just plain bad weather has interrupted nesting season around here. Everything wildlife is late this year. Some of the flowers have not even bloomed because of the wet ground.

Today I cut the side field and the road going to it.
I had an Emergency Gall Blatter op, 10 days in the hospital, and another month healing and not allowed on the tractor or lifting anything and I had to mount the Brush Hog before cutting.   The brush was three feet high, yes, almost like fighting your way through a jungle.

Was using my Walk behind Powered trimmer and the Main Hub broke apart... I think it has been five years since I purchased it so I'm not too disappointed but I thought when I purchased it I thought the hub was super duty, like no replacement needed... NOT !   Still waiting for that unit to get back from the Repair Shop, tried the non-powered Walk Behind Trimmer and that wouldn't start... WHAT, I pulled the spark plug, cleaned it, regaped (sp) the plug, got spark outside the cylinder, but no start when installed, must be the fuel AGAIN !  Off to the shop with that one too.

That's when I had to mount the Brush Hog and use the tractor for the larger areas.

Hope this isn't too boring but sometimes reality is funny.

 I believe you about it being like a jungle, our weeds are growing like weeds too! I need to mow it all again now too! This spring it has been almost a full time job trying to keep it mowed down.

It isn't late for the bugs that's for sure. The little monsters have wreaked havoc with my citrus trees. I have predator bugs on order they should be here Wednesday and no they are not coming USPS.

It isn't late for the bugs that's for sure. The little monsters have wreaked havoc with my citrus trees. I have predator bugs on order they should be here Wednesday and no they are not coming USPS. 

The bugs were right on time this morning!  I slathered up with my mixture of Repel and Nonatz.  It repels mosquitos, ticks, biting flies, sand nats and my wife.

All I’ve done today is wallow in bed with the memsahib and the pups.  Getting ready to go outside now and work in the garden.

Went to lunch with and then went and hung out our son in law and our youngest daughter at their house for a few hours. I brought home a commercial food warmer that is not working to see if I can fix it for them, again. I have fixed their food warmers a few times with various issues. I'll check it out tomorrow because they need it back working by the end of the week or need to get a new one if this one is totally shot.
