Finished burning the branches in the pit and piled up a little way from the pit. My fit bit says I walked 15,870 steps today walking back and forth to put the branches from the pile into the pit after what was in it burned down. The pit was piled about 3 feet above the edge.
Hoping it will rain/snow really hard later to put out the embers.🤞

Looks like a good spot to roast a couple pigs.

Probably closer to about 20 of them would fit.

That should be enough to feed most of the GTA regulars.

I called in sick to work today and tried to get some rest.  No joy.  Mom is on a tear.  The outboard died on her pontoon boat and mom won't be without a boat.  So I had to go to the marine supply with her and help negotiate a new motor.  $7,500 later and we now own a brand new fifty horsepower Yamaha four stroke.  Now mom is in a lather to get the boat out of the water and off to the mechanic to install the new mill.  So I had to drift the boat a quarter mile up river with the rising tide and skull it into the cove where the boat ramp is.  Water was too low to float the boat entirely onto the trailer and I had to winch it on by hand.  Went home and took some codeine.  Ten minutes later mom called and said that the nursing home was sending her husband back to the hospital.  So I drove mom to town and sat in the waiting room at the ICU for five hours waiting to see if they would admit him.  The quacks finally admitted him about 2300 and I drove mom home.  Nothing to eat since 01000.  Dead tired and my right arm feels nailed on at the shoulder.

Thinking about taking tomorrow off too but mom will have plans for me if I do.

Worked the graveyard shift last night.  Commute home.  Made espresso for my clan.  Chilling with a cappuccino at this very moment.  I’m skipping pool at pops today.  Going in for 32 hours starting at 1500.  I may take a nap here soon.

Dadgum $7500 for only 50hp is the going rate these days?! I hate to fathom what a 150hp engine would cost. Prices are absurd these days.

I have a Tohatsu 5hp 4 stroke on my boat, it went for $1100 in 2017. I paid that much for a Johnson 15hp 2 stroke in 1984. Anything over 50hp you might as well take out a second mortgage.

That’s why we went for the fifty. Last year the park purchased a 60 horse Suzuki for $11,000.  I’m not pulling tubers or carrying a lot of folks and I don’t need to go fast so 50 is just fine.

I did stay home today.  Sort of.  I played with the dogs this morning.  Then I took the memsahib’s car to get the oil changed.  I’ve been taking easy all afternoon though.  Hopefully I’ll feel like going to work tomorrow.

Wow Kris I didn't know the prices were so high for them back in the 80s too! A friend and I had a lot of good times on his boat back then and it had a 50hp motor. Don't need a lot of hp to have a good time on the water.

I am content with not having to paddle but not to crazy about flying across the water. I just want to get from point A to point B in one piece.

Went over to my mother's with my ladder in the back and got up on her roof and blew off all the limbs and leaves from it and her gutters. Then I blew out her garage, driveway and back patio. Her place needs a lot of leaf mulching with the mower soon among other yard work too. She's not been feeling well so I cleaned up her kitchen and made sweet tea for her too. She took care of me when I needed it whether she felt like it or not so I'm going to do the same for her. I'm beat. 

About 80s music I haven't heard Manic Monday in ages yet it just popped into my head yesterday.

 I went to Tractor Supply, resisted the baby chicks, looked at the airgun stuff resisted buying one  But did buy new rubbers for a old Barnett slingshot I had laying around. Then went right to the softer salt area, they moved it and I found they had 2 of the .22 LR quadrant targets left on closeout, I bought one. OK that got a little airgun related LOL
 They do have a few 1866 Jr.s left on closeout, I will get one yet to take apart and mess the trigger up or make it better

It was me and "Tater Tot"  driving boats today.  I gotta hand it to that kid.  He looks like a recruiting poster for the boyscouts in his uniform but he is turning into a pretty good river boat pilot.  We traded off steering and working as deckhand.  A squall line with a lot of lightening came through a little after noon so I canceled the 1300 and the 1330 boats.  It was pouring rain and I don't think anyone minded.  I drove four tours and saw plenty of gators, birds, and turtles but I had to work to find manatee.

Got home and the memsahib informed me that the iron maiden is now legally married to her Brazilian husband.  She watched the nuptials in Rio on her laptop.  I have no expectations.  Dealing with my daughter is like being on the receiving end of harrasing artillery fire.  It keeps you keyed up all the time but you still have to keep your head down until all the noise is over. >:

I had two martinis to celebrate!
