Brett... she probably is getting to know her name as Milani. I might just shroten it and call her Lani.
Rambo was amazing.. he lived on his own in the woods across from my work for more than a year before we rescued him and brought him home. We feared the worse. But to our amazement, he has never once done his business in our house, got into the trash or destroyed anything... even when left alone for hours at a time.
Boss was a different story.. when we inherited her she would chew on shoes and hats if left out. Everything had to be put out of her reach. She didn't get into the trash or do her business in the house but I lost several shoes.
Both dogs have always let us know when the wanted out or back in.
They get fed at 5am and 5pm and, trust me, they know when it's 5:00 even if we don't.

Personally I have never "Crate Trained" a dog... actually it wasn't a thing back in the day.
All mine have been "Free Range" run of the house. Puppy's need to be watched, you will start to recognize when they need to "potty" and take them out.
 Then before you know it they tell you when it's time. Just don't ignore it. 

Our foster puppys sure let us know when they need to go potty, and when it's time they eat. The boy even goes on the pee pad we have on the front porch. They've never been on dirt since we started fostering them. They still need one more of their shots before they are protected from parvovirus.

Oh, and my wife and I have been crate training puppies for over 40 years.

I got out just after daylight to survey the fence moving project. I made my plan and surveying quickly turned into doing.
I wanted to do it in a way that the dogs, if they came out, wouldn't go exploring beyond the fenced in area.
So I began by driving in the posts. Next I drilled the tree and installed the spare set of gate hinge pins. I had to cut out some old barbed wire that had been there since the old homestead many years ago.
We let the dogs out to take care of business before i cut the exisiting fence loose. While Betty Lou was preparing water bottles and sausage breafast buscuits I hung the 10' gate in it's new location between 2 trees. I cut all the small stuff out of the way so the gate can swing open in or out. That gate gives us access to the atv trail we blazed through the woods to the barn.
By that time Betty Lou came out with a bite to eat and to join in on the fun.
We rolled up the fence and unrolled it to the posts. 120' of it. We secured it to the new posts and trees and by 11:30 am we gained 7500 sq ft. of fence in back yard space.
Next the clearing and clean up needs to be done. About a dozen or so trees need cut down, under brush need cleared and all the fallen leaves/debris since the beginning of time needs raked and burned. Next fall I plan to seed all of it for grass along with the rest of the back yard I cleared last year and the front yard that we just cleared.
By noon my back was screaming at me to stop for the day.

What sort of fence do you have that 120 ft can be rolled and unrolled . Hurricane wire boundary fence maybe. Our fencing is a lot less handy, more permanent than that .
We do have temporary wire netting and scrim fencing to put up yards for docking lambs out on big farms but even that is getting less now.

I spent Friday and today with my mother at the hospital; my father was admitted from the rehab center Thursday night- he went from looking like he'd be coming home soon straight to renal failure combined with COVID among other things.  I'm at peace with losing him, and I think my mother is, too. 

Otherwise, I pressure washed some shutters while Sonja sanded a hutch we'll be relocating to our quonset hut when we move.  I'll miss my old man, but he will depart soon having lived a good life; a life of honorable behavior, respect, dignity, and integrity.  He gave me the best gift ever: independent thinking.

  We had leftovers from the Ladies meeting at the Church yesterday, so we had lunch together today followed by an early afternoon service. So Church is done for the day, and now I feel like I need a nap. But my predicament is if I nap very long I will have a hard time staying in bed tonight. I think I will set an alarm and sleep a 1/2 hour.
 It's 53°F and a wet and rainy day mostly, so doing anything outside is not an option.

Went to the DMV and renewed my DL and upgraded it to a real ID, There was an hour and a half wait. But.. I saved 45 minutes by starting online.

Worked in the garden.  Went to the dump and disposed of a really dreadful refrigerator from our rental house.  Flung the tennis ball for about an hour for the pups. Took momma and the memsahib for a pontoon boat ride.  Got some photos of our river house from the river side.  Yes the sea wall is collapsing.  One of the reasons we went out was to get some pictures of it.  We cruised down stream for a half an hour and then upstream past the house.  About a half mile upriver from the house the motor died and I couldn’t revive it. The tide was still coming in so upstream was really downstream.  I broke out a paddle and ferried us 200 yards against the current to a neighbor’s dock.  We walked back to our house along the river road.  I’ll walk back later after the tide changes and drift the boat down to our dock.

Life on the river banks... not much better in my opinion.

Dan I have a bunch of limbs like that and larger that I need to get rid of. I have a 40ft widow maker snagged between 2 trees just above the fence that it almost took out with some debris in the yard near by. Hoping the heavy end won't fall and hit the fence from where it broke on the tree.

Thanks Bill.  I just went and retrieved the pontoon boat.  The tide has turned so I untied it and drifted down to our dock.  I took a nine foot sweep oar and sculled the boat in.  I tried the motor again and while the starter chugs it doesn’t sound like it’s getting any gas.  It was a peaceful twenty minutes drifting back to the dock. Contemplating a new outboard.  Once you lose faith in your motor you will never get it back.
