It's hard for me to get a good ear pic on myself. The branch dug a pretty deep hole and tore the skin back. It took about 3 hours to get it fixed up. They just cleaned and bonded it. Here is a better/another angle pic of the surface of the damage.

Well I rejoice that it got my ear and not my eye!

I have had my hat and even my glasses knocked off and that did heighten my attention to some degree, but it didn’t “catch my ear”, as it were!
Sometimes it takes pain to really get our attention. To change habits or change our ways.
What does it take to get our attention, pain, interruption of our routines by limiting our choices and by turning our heads!
I never saw those low branches as a serious problem before, and I got off easy this time too! It could have been an eye that was poked out!
Now that my attention has been gotten, I will respond by taking action to rid and avoid that danger in the future.

At least it would have been your left and not your right. That is if you're right eye dominant. Wife had cataract surgery last summer and now she has to have laser surgery on her right eye to remove scar tissue so she can see. At the eye doctor she couldn't even read the largest letters with her right eye. She's right eye dominant.😡

Dan if you're a side sleeper get a neck pillow with empty space in the middle to not mash your ear against the pillow underneath. Yep I've been scratched hard by limbs in the past so ever since then I've kept them cut 7' high so I can mow and drive the tractor under them without issue.

Finally have sunny clear skies after a week of overcast foggy weather! Feels really good seeing the sun again and sitting outside in it again also.

 I just came in from shoveling snow.   We got about 4 inches of very wet heavy snow and I thought I would shovel for a while and get some exercise.   If I ran out of energy I could use the snowblower.    Well I just kept going and after a while my big city sister, who was visiting,  came out and started shoveling.   She's older than me but in pretty good shape.   We ended up doing the whole driveway by hand and it's a country driveway not a city or suburb driveway.  We'll probably both be a little sore tomorrow but it was great to finish the job without a motorized device.    If it snows a lot more tonight, I guess I'll fire up the snowblower in the morning.

On the pet subject, we have been looking.  Many of you may remember Bella the Rotty.  Sweet dog for sure but really would have been too much dog to handle for my wife (105#) or kids.  She was a strong dog.  We also were trying to adopt a dog from a local rescue.  We didn’t meet their requirements so we were denied.  Now my wife keeps looking at this other puppy online.  I’m fine without a dog personally.  Everyone else seems so on fire for a new one.  I just really need this dog, whichever one we end up with, to be chill.  I still have stress thinking back on Jasmine, out last dog.  She was a great dog for us but not for anyone else.  She wasn’t very dog like either.  Anyway, that’s where we are in our new dog search/adventure.

Been there Ron that's tough for sure.

Shot a skunk last night with the 12ga then sprayed the area with scent killer and tossed it in the woods this morning but not before a fox or some critter dragged it by the fence and chewed on it some. Saw a vulture flying away from it later today then rewarded my kindness for feeding it by puking on me as he flew overhead the friggin !&*($#@K+=! He landed high in a tree so I walked out there with the 12ga and some bird shot then shot his sorry &*$ then he flew away to not get hit again. I found some hurl on my pants so got those in the wash before the acidic spot could stain them. I say hurl because I've always been told they have no pooper and can only hurl their waste like owls do. Adventurous times....

Well since today was PERFECT weather for it we went to Desert Hot Springs Spa. We relaxed in the pools and talked. I couldn't swim like I normally do because I am not supposed to submerse my ear wound for at least a week. I did have a good relaxing time though.  It was 75°F when we got there and when we left, and had topped out about 80°F, there was no wind either, can't ask for better weather. The 7 pool temps ranged from 95°F to 103°F today.  There is another cool pool that was 81°F but I avoided it.

I thought I posted about it but didn't. Yesterday I trimmed that tree that attacked me last Saturday as a result I felt like I really needed the Spa day today after using the chainsaw and loading my pickup with the branches.

Well since today was PERFECT weather for it we went to Desert Hot Springs Spa. We relaxed in the pools and talked. I couldn't swim like I normally do because I am not supposed to submerse my ear wound for at least a week. I did have a good relaxing time though.  It was 75°F when we got there and when we left, and had topped out about 80°F, there was no wind either, can't ask for better weather. The 7 pool temps ranged from 95°F to 103°F today.  There is another cool pool that was 81°F but I avoided it.

I visited Desert Hot Springs years ago when my job took me out to Morongo.  The first and only hot springs I’ve ever visited.  I remember it as being a really great place.  I love a hot soak and several times a year I fire up my own white trash hot tub but it ain’t the same thing as soaking in a hot mineral spring.

I got a house last spring that’s down the hill from a famous old water cure / thermal spring… All the water in the house comes from the spring - it cranks out 500 gallons a minute so my neighbors and I have plenty of fresh free springwater.  After coming from an urban environment, having a nice quality water is a GREAT change.

Weird thing is my knees have completely stopped hurting… after about a couple of months of living here my knees feel like they did 10 years ago. Maybe just normal  healing but you never know.
