0100 in the morning and my dang brain won't stop. Came home from pet sitting for the last 6 days and my wife loaded me up with stuff I need to do tomorrow and I can't stop thinking on how I'm going to do all of it.😡🤬🤬

"I probably just hid them so good I can't find them"    This is becoming a real issue for me.   I have a habit of hiding guns and money.   Usually it all turns up eventually but I'm missing one gun.    I hope someone didn't swipe it.   At least it's a pretty unusual antique and there would be pretty much no chance of using it in a bad way.  Guess I'll have to do a better search.

I was so tired from the trip preparations that I was a zombie finishing my list.

We knew we were having a certain couple of grandkids that have sticky fingers that were going to be staying at our house while they were down to go to the beach and Disneyland while we were away. So I had made a list of stuff to hide and lock up. Those are the only relatives that help themselves to stuff. But my wife the last couple of years has told all the grandkids if you see something you want ask and I will probably let you take it home with you, trying to get rid of some stuff before we move someday.

  Knowing that I could have hid them too good I am holding out hope that they weren't taken I find them.

I did a deep clean in our bedroom today and looked in every drawer and everywhere I could think of in there for the 2 pocket knives I haven't been able to find since earlier this year. I am starting to wonder if they walked off with someone.   


 I probably just hid them so good I can't find them... 

I own multiple pocket knives because of this.

Dan, any chance you may have inadvertently packed them in the luggage for your vacation? Maybe in a pocket or zip compartment.

My uncle did the same after I took it out of my safe and gave it to him to take back home with him where it belonged then he forgot where he hid it and could never find it. He also forgot me ever giving it to him out of the safe and believed I stole it from him. It took over a year of talking to him about it to finally get him to realize his abusive druggy daughter likely found it and gave it to her dealer for more drugs that she had no money for. In my uncle's case he had dementia and also frequently couldn't find his truck keys that he hid from his daughter then she accused me of trying to steal from him when she walked in seeing me looking in the cabinet that he used to hide them in.

Hope you guys find your stuff soon as I know how infuriating that is.

I took the windshield back off of the Rancher after the 3rd time of catching a rut or a root and knocking a snorkel off.

I tore into the brakes on the Ranger today.  I couldn’t find the leak in the front circuit so it must be in the back. The front wheels are off and it’s up on jack stands.  Not crawling under it to inspect the rear end right now though.  I had to return to the auto parts store ( of course).  A three hour round trip.  The combination hub and rotors I bought didn’t come with wheel bearings.  If you’ve ever done the brakes on a Ford Ranger you know what I’m talking about.  Back home with the bearings and it’s a little too late to finish the job so I threw everything in the cab and called it a day.  Got an early morning dentist appointment tomorrow.  This one is a four hour round trip and I’ll have to wait four hours for my dentures to be re-lined so tomorrow is shot.  Probably won’t get back to the truck before Thursday.  No sweat.  I’m on vacation!

No chance at all, we were driving there and flying back with no checked luggage so I made sure not to bring any knives.
I had no luck finding them in my office today. I'm running out of places to look and my wife said she is starting to thing maybe she put them somewhere.    If she did they could be in more places than I have already looked.    I didn't finish in my office/man cave yet, about half. At least everything is going to be spotless when I am done searching.

I find more things that I forgot I had than things I am looking for. The sad part is that I typically misplace those things again.

yesterday I dropped some coin on a couple EdGuns Leshiy IIs.


Okay, not really- that amount was spent on a floor model Jotul direct-vent freestanding stove for the Quonset.  Internal framing is moving along, septic is dug in including solids tank, pumping station, d-boxes, and the entire leach field.  Things have been ramping up out on the property.

We still have a few more major purchases; the bathroom stuff and kitchen cabinet materials.  I feel like my wallet is in freefall.

Yeah, I was talking to Angie and Patrick, the folks putting the double wide on the 3 acres just down the road. It's way more than just buying a hunk of land and dragging a trailer in. Those nickles and dimes add up quickly.
For example: the home was set and the septic tank was installed. It was another $300 to make the connection between the 2.
The water meter was installed at the front of the property. Patrick had to hire a mini excavator to dig the 250' trench plus purchase that much water line.
Oh, and the utility pole, box and wire to make the connection for electric.
Then there is skirting, a deck or 2, the 250' driveway across a wet and sloppy field and landscaping.
This 3 acres of land spent many years as a pasture and several more for crops. Don't think you're going to just fire up the MTD lawn tractor and mow it.
6 large truckloads of dirt had to be hauled in and leveled for the pad to set the home on.

I have a small box of Starrett mics and gauges somewhere I put for safe keeping... been looking for it for 20 years.

A little pest patrol(rabbit). Clean out some more junk and did find a few things that I have been looking for or wondered where I had put them last time. Worked on some of the art work. Started chicken pens yesterday and will work on that later this afternoon when it cools down some. Make a mail run, ordered some stuff this week and it's in. The boat is hooked up so all I have to do is ice the cooler down and make snacks for tomorrow. Taking a break from the domestic clean up.

I repaired my bicycle brake/derailleur shifters.  Yesterday I tried to go for a ride and couldn't shift gears at all. 

Despite the bike shop telling me I needed to replace them and a whole pile of other repairs, ($718 repair estimate!!!) I was able to free them up by merely squirting them with WD-40 and actuating them.  Did a good enough job to be able to go out for a short ride today.  That felt good, really good.  It was a nice day for a ride, but a little warm at 85F.  I'll take another ride tomorrow.  Today was the first time I was on a bike in two years.

I decided to mow yesterday and started at the barn acre. That went well so I moved to the bar acre. I got about 75% done and noticed the left side front wheel coming loose. Sure enough, another wheel bearing. I had replaced the right side a while back and should have replaced both I guess. Oh well, the outer bearing, both washers and clip are only $10.50 and in stock locally.
I put the new bearing in, greased it up and got back to it. Finally was the half acre obstacle course that our home is on. That's all I have cleared off of this acre so far. It's a work in progress. I did manage to get the last 2 trees logged up that I dropped last week. The plan is to drop a few more this weekend.

Probably won't be doing a whole bunch outside today. The forest Dept is doing a couple of control burns east of us and the air is real smokey.😡 and of course the wind is blowing from that direction.

Just had propane delivered, there goes $950! 🤬🤬 Found out the control burn wasn't really. They had a lighting strike right where they were planning a control burn so decided to let it burn.
