Just got back from scanning the dirt road with 1 of those harbor freight garage magnets. It's 30 inches wide so we were able to scan 1 side then turn around and scan the other side. I was sitting on the tailgate of the tundra while the wife drove.🫤🫤. We scanned about 1.5 miles of dirt road and didn't find any of the screws that's been giving everyone flat tires. The hand I was holding on to the handle of the magnet started to fall asleep and right now is a little sore and my back is toast.

I climbed on the 48" JD zero turn mower at 11:47 a.m. and didn't get off except to move the occasional tree branch until 4:08 p.m.  I figure I mowed about five acres of what the park service calls "Day use recreation area".  Beaucoup boulders, stumps, roots, trees, ditches, picnic tables, grills, water faucets, about a hundred concrete curb stops, fence lines, and parking areas.  All of it rough as a cobb.  Then I spent four hours emptying garbage cans, picking up trash, and cleaning bathrooms.

I'm a wee bit tired.

Once Betty Lou got up yesterday I shut the Red Shed down and came in the house. We spent the entire day cleaning and organizing the screen room.
We had an oak roll top desk that we had brought with us on the past 2 moves. We didn't have room for it in our home so we had it in the bar/mancave with a desktop PC on it. Betty Lou decided she wanted it in the screened room with the PC on it and a 55" big screen on top of it.
Yeah, we're going to be a pair of slow moving old folks today.

Yesterday I started to build a soft bait mold. Wanted to design a ghost shrimp style bait. Finished building the shrimp form late last night, spent this morning setting up the mold box for the pour. This is the first time I have used Alumilite mold maker silicone. It's states that you can demold items in about 30 min. It's been a while since I have made a mold in silicone and back then it use to take 2 to 3 days before you could demold the item. If this works I will be one happy fisherman, that is one less pack of jig critters that I don't have to buy and I can make the color I want.

Gotta pump the last 200 gallons of water out of the water trailer and go get another load. Only thing I hate is it takes me around an hour to travel the 5.5 miles up the dirt road to home. Only takes a little over an hour to drive to town,fill the tank and get back to the dirt road but once on the road I can't go any faster than 5 mph and about 1 mile of it at 1-2 miles per hour because it's so wash board it gets the trail bouncing which breaks springs. Don't ask how I know.😡

Gotta pump the last 200 gallons of water out of the water trailer and go get another load. Only thing I hate is it takes me around an hour to travel the 5.5 miles up the dirt road to home. Only takes a little over an hour to drive to town,fill the tank and get back to the dirt road but once on the road I can't go any faster than 5 mph and about 1 mile of it at 1-2 miles per hour because it's so wash board it gets the trail bouncing which breaks springs. Yeah I know the math doesn't work out and that's because I do exceed the 5 mph in just a few sections that are pretty smooth.

I searched for a "buyer" and sold my wife's 2005 Honda CRV SE, to be picked up tomorrow. I put the battery on charge so it will start when they get here with the tow truck. The transmission went out a while back and we decided just to let it go now instead of spending that much on getting it back on the road.


Then I went and had my 2003 Dodge 3500 smog tested $48.00 and renewed the tags, $409.00, thanks CA!

Rain has put a whoa to the outside projects in the last few days, so I am catching up making fishing lures. Need to get the lead pot out and get the jig hooks made up and painted. I prefer to do this outside and not have deal with an exhaust system in the shop or clean up the splatters off everything in there. I will eventually have a dedicated spot for it.

Just got home after driving back from a wedding in Chicago.  The cute young couple makes me a little more optimistic about the future.   Wife and I are both retired so we took our time, using a lot of back roads which is much more interesting than a highway blitz.    We like to eat at small town mom and pop restaurants instead of the chain places along highways.     So when we're almost home, driving down our dirt road,  I see a huge black dog near our driveway, no it's a black bear welcoming us home.

Wife was just trying to put on her socks and shoes. Before she knew it Paul our English Lab had her socks completely in his mouth. She going where are my socks then looks at Paul and asks, what is in his mouth? Yeah you guessed it, it was her socks all soggy 😜.

I spent most of day waiting for stuff to happen so I could actually do some work.  If the project managers keep screwing up, I end up sitting on my buttocks waiting...

Otherwise, I received an email from the "treasurer" for the so-called neighborhood where we own our property a couple hours west.  This new treasurer introduced herself as "Stargazer" the first time we met... that's her "trail name"... apparently, that's a Major Thing for hikers.  When she asked our names, we gave them; when she asked if we had trail named, we just looked at her and repeated our first names. 

Every third word out of her mouth she says "blessings"... imagine the worst mix of Yuppie + Hippie ideals, only in a GenX'er.  Anyway, this.... person... wants to do "Prepper Weekends" and other big group events.  We've pretty much told her No Thank You... her latest Grand Idea is clearing hurdles so each landowner can start obtaining grant money from the State/Fed to have RoundUp Custom applied to their property down by the James River.  Our General Contractor, less than a mile downriver (or 1000 yards as a crow flies) has a cattle farm right there.

I never heard of any self-professed hippie anywhere ever wanting to use RoundUp Custom (or any type of glyphosate) to manage vegetation on the bank of a river.  Let's just say the next time I see her, I will likely express things in more certain terms.
