Ha ha!  I'm on a mission.  This is ramping up to be a busy year already.  I've just been coasting the last couple years and I've been complacent and lazy.  It's time to get motivated and this just happens to be the time I started.  We'll see how long this lasts... 😆

This was Saturday, but took my wife to see the super bloom in Joshua Tree Nat'l Park. I had a long day driving but seeing her face light up made it all worthwhile.

  We don't have a super bloom here but we do have some wild poppies that showed up on our property this year. We did see a lot on the hills between here and John Wayne Airport last Sunday afternoon when we took our oldest daughter there. A few weeks back we saw a lot on the hills around us but weather wiped them out apparently.
  My wife made sure to let me know to leave all the poppies when I was mowing and weed whacking.

Just finished moving an old boat to its new location to become a raised garden bed. Now to fill it up with veggies and flowers. Wreaked havoc on the invasive plants and fire ants. The weather has been nice to be outside today, I wish would just stay like that.

This morning, I went up to the Permission #2 woods - not to hunt - but still airgun related.  I run the fences for the owner to check for fallen trees that may damage the fence and allow the cattle to wander.  Because this woodland is relatively flat and has NO canyons, I decided to ride the fat-tire bicycle (Mountain Bike).  I guess the rains Friday and Saturday were heavier up there than at my house.  Half of the ride was almost as much walking due to the mud and water.  The second half was a breeze.  I was finished in about 1.5 hours. 
The fences:  Well, I didn't have to use my saw even once.  I found one small limb that I was able to simply pull away from the fence. 
On the way home, I reported my findings to the landlord.  Win - Win

 Nothing airgun related to report, I did spend the morning getting my Magna-trac dozer out of the swamp I stuck in in about a year ago then flooding kept happening them frost 
 Still have to wait a week or so of dry hot weather that's on the way, to get to doing more work with it there baring any more heavy rains.

My wife and I went to Riverside (43 miles) to a John Deere dealer to order a part I need. Then we met with my youngest daughter and son-in-law for lunch. We just got home and it is a comfortable 82°F with 20% humidity.

I am going to have some pads down.  Not sure exactly if or how I will anchor it.  I'm heading to the home center in just a few minutes to check out what's available.  The area is protected from wind by the trees you see in the background and the house to the left.  I don't really need to anchor it but I'm more for over building than under building so I'll probably end up with something helping hold it down just in case...

Maybe just dig down 10 - 12 inches in a 12" square, pour some ready mix in the holes and set some anchor bolts in it.

James, park rangers have a saying.  "There's stuck and then there's bulldozer stuck!"

I worked some more on the box cut axe.  It's over 100 years old and it's pretty rough.  I've been treating it with phosphoric acid and a wire brush.  After several applications it has developed a nice patina so I said good enough and dropped it into a bucket of used motor oil to steep for a few days.  It is a hand forged specialty tool used in the turpentine industry.  I'll post some pictures when it is finished.  I unloaded the farm wagon from the flatbed trailer and rolled it under its awning.  I am slowly working my way around all of the metal work on the wagon treating it with phosphoric acid then oiling it.  We treated the wood with Neam oil but I want to do a second application before the carpenter bees get started this year.

Because we both know where your car port ended up with 12 anchors holding it down. That thing moved a good distance.

As did I. There were 0 ant beds in the yard as of Saturday but today as I was mowing I saw there are already around 20 starting up! Those little bastages are relentless but so am I. They'll be dead tomorrow.
