it continuously amazes me that my 8 years on and working on nuclear submarines gave me less toxic materials (and less radiation) exposure than any troops stationed in the sandbox for just 2 years. Some of the oils I worked with were way past toxic; never mind Hopcalite, JP5, regular 'old diesel fuel, and of course, cleaning and working on the sanitary tanks and pump. MEA was another big one (I was the CO2-scrubber guru) but all in all, subs are relatively safe work environments provided you abide by the MSDS sheets (which didn't always happen). I foresee a lot more troops coming down with oddball illnesses similar to GWS, only a decade later. The Brass never really learns.
Here is a perk of retirement that may not be considered by you poor working stiffs....No more jumping up at 5 am and dashing to the shower while the coffee is brewing before work.I can wait until 5:30 in the afternoon to take my daily shower.... which I completely did...
Went to the Dr this morning for some issues I have been having with my gut. Last 3 months been feeling like trash and can tell at work when guys I out pace or keep pace with are now running circles around me. I decided ok time to see the Dr. so got a new family dr today, haven't been to one in at least 5 years. We kicked off this venture and seeing why I feel so sick. I have lost a bunch of weight and lack energy along with my apatite has tanked coupled with I have had to cut a bunch of stuff out of my diet so I don't upset my stomach.I am expecting the worst with an ulcer but hoping it isn't that bad and something else that is more easily treated. What a real smack in the face. I will be waiting on an appt with a GI specialist soon.

I shower at night before bed. I like to be fresh. I just put a ball cap on to cover bed head in the morning and I wear a hardhat all day at work so my hair is messy anyway.
Rode herd on several young and enthusiastic rangers. Cool head main ting mon! Lock up your daughters! It's Spring break! The most ignorant, entitled, obnoxious, bellicose, drunken, oblivious idiots on earth are on the rampage! AMERICANS are on spring break! Fortunately it's my Friday and I get to miss the madness that will ensue on Saturday.
