I have my dogs train to not lick me. Hank is tall enough that even though I am 6' tall he could lick my chin while still standing on all four feet by just tipping his head back and stretching his neck and shooting out his long tongue (he use to do it occasionally).  I have not been successful in training him to stop nudging with his nose or chin though. It seems the best time to nudge me is immediately after eating or drinking while his face is a bit messy, especially if I just put on a clean shirt. 

  He is a loving big dork.

My 200lb mastiff made a mess after eating drinking from the slobber but I never let him lick my face so he never tried. He was bad about racking me with his wagging tail and farting the house up though.


Climbed the fence to mend the loose barb wire back tight to several posts from a tree fall 2yrs previous now that all the brush died off and settled where I could get in there to fix the fence. Cut some wire then attached it to one on the fence that was broke then stapled it to the post. Now no more critters can walk through there like they have been lately.

Woke up to 33* this morning. Suppose to only get to the mid 50s. I been spending some time in the Red Shed the past few days sitting at the shooting bench and looking around between shots with various airguns.
I saw some things that I would like to change.. another work bench over here, move that shelving over there and finish putting that pile of stuff away right there.
Anyhow, I think I'll leave the roll up door down and turn on the propane wall heater and work in there this morning. Later this afternoon when it gets near 60 I'll open it up and do some shooting.
Looks like rain all next week beginning Sunday. 50% chance and temps in the low 60's.
Tomorrow I might load the Rancher on the trailer and go do some river run trails. Last time I went there the battery started acting up and I had a really low tire.. didn't ride much at all because I was by myself and didn't want to get hung out in the woods with no help.

My wife wants me help to help shop today, I think we can get that done by the time it warms up though.

Last night turned into a bad adventure. My water trailer has everything setup to pump the water into the holding tanks but I can't use it right now because of the dirt roads. We are having to use our smaller 210 gallon tank. Back before the trailer I had it setup to do just that but haven't used it for over a year. The pump and hoses were all out in the airgun she'd and 1 of the fittings wouldn't work with the discharge hose. So I'm swooping fittings around so when the wife gets home I can pump the water. Pumps being a pita to start and I'm having to use starting fluid to get it to run but the starter fluid does the trick. Wife finally gets home and the temp is below freezing. I mean handle the pump and the hoses up to the truck and notice dang the output of the tank is 2 inch and the hose is a inch and a half. So after doing some more swapping around I get it to fit. Hook it up turn on the valve, crud, there was still water in the hose and it's frozen!! By this time it's totally dark and in the 20's and I have to pump the water out so it don't freeze a crack the tank. I tried pouring boiling water down the end to get where the ice is but it's so cold it's not doing anything. So, doing some more swapping around of the plumbing fittings I bring out the 2 inch hose that I've never used and Wrestle it on to the tank and the pump. At last? Nope now I'm trying to get the pump to start and the recoil starter is getting fiddly. Out comes the spark plug and a squirt of fluid and it starts, sort of.😡😡 It's almost out of gas but I had checked earlier and it looked like it was good. I have gas thank God so I pour some in and pulled the spark plug and squirt fluid and it starts. Water is flowing and all is good with the world. By the time I get everything broke down and put away it's 2000 hrs.🥶🥶

Wow, Robert! I’ve been going at things at home/work like a cluster-clown on crack… but have managed to multitask well and stay fairly focused. Sounds like you’re going at it pretty hard too. Hope & pray for some easier times for all of us. I’d really like a couple days with nothing to do, but I’m not seeing it in the coming days too soon.

That won't ever happen around here with my wife. She gets bored easily and I'm the one who ends up doing it.😡 The water mess was mostly my fault. I got complacent with using the water trailer and didn't anticipate the problems.

Pumped another 210 gallons today and it only took a half hour like it should. Heck, the pump even started 2nd pull and the recoil starter didn't hang up. Life is good 😊👍

How much property do you have Gil?  Seems like you are always working on some sort of major project. 

21 acres, 4 in the front and back yards, the other 17 is wooded with barb wire fencing. Unfortunately it's a high maintenance property so it keeps me busier than I'd prefer but I'm grateful to have it and have learned how to do many things on it because of that. I have some old section of staggered wood fencing that whoever built it used nails so from the high winds at times boards come loose where I have to remove the nails from the boards and framing then replace with screws which is what they should've used to hold everything tight. I did some of that today and swapping old boards on the front of the fence that had rotted off sections with complete boards from the back of the fence swapped to the front for a better appearance. It'll need replacing eventually but milking it for all it's got in the mean time.

Sooo....It snowed again last night. 
I did the snow thing at my place and my daughters place today.
I'm glad I got it all done today, even with all the wind that blew today.
The temps are going down below zero tonight and it is single digit temps for tomorrow.

I went shopping, I got home later than I wanted to. I cooked Rib Eye steaks for my wife and I while she roasted some cauliflower and broccoli. Had a great meal with some sweet Peach Iced Tea.

 I took out the old transmission mount and then the trouble began. The new mount had mystery sized bolt holes.
 I ended up going to buy new bolts at a hardware store that has a vast selection. NOPE, the taping job was just very poor quality, there was no size that fit SAE or Metric.

 By the time I got back home it was dark, tapped the holes with a sharp 7/16 coarse thread like they should have been to begin with.

 I came in and had a sandwich, and here I am. OH well, tomorrow is another day.

I think I would like 21 acres.  I have a dream of 1200 acres.  I would be content with 100 🤪

18 acres available at the end of the street but it's $3.5 million.  That ain't happening

Problem with using screws is the wood swells and snaps them. That's 1 of the reasons the nails come loose. The swelling and contracting of the wood works them out.

Dan that sounds like a great meal! Bummer on the mounts but you fixed it right and now you'll be good to go.

Brett it just depends on the property. The only way I'd have anything over what I have now is if it was a really good property without a lot of maintenance and repairs required. This 20 is all I can handle. Property like this really needs a big family with everyone chipping in keeping the place up. If you moved to TX near small towns you'd be able to find properties at more reasonable prices. Whatever you get just make sure it's not a place that keeps you too busy.

Robert I don't doubt that a bit especially with all the cheap soft garbage out these days. Maybe there are good screws available at high price but I wouldn't know what they are.

The memsahib and I continued our some-assembly-required greenhouse project.  The missing screws finally arrived after ricocheting around the country courtesy of the USPS.  We've now spent a total of four days assembling a 8'X16' structure.  Thank goodness we leveled a cement paver foundation for it in advance.  without a level surface to assemble it on we could never have done it.  I wont say it's finished but hopefully the memsahib can take it from here.  The living room is full of potted plants, fruit trees, seeding trays, and germinators. I'll be glad to get it all out of here.
