To celebrate New Years Eve with a Bang... I went to the range and sent 100 rounds downrange with a new PB pistol (S&W) and rather enjoyed myself.

Dodged manatee and tried to keep the old scow off the mud banks.  I drove three boat tours and then bugged out for the shack.  Gonna celebrate New Years with a libation and a Havana Habana!

My neighbor reported a black bear tearing apart her bird feeders, so they are around, but they never approach my animals. My four alpacas could be a good enough deterrent for most critters.

Marathon shift at work. Started yesterday at 3pm.  I'll be off at 11pm tonight.  Eating potato chips and heading out to another job.  I'm looking forward to the end of the holidays and getting back to a normal routine.  Happy New Year folks!

I’d love to see a mountain lion.  We allegedly have cougar and jaguarundi here in N Florida.  I’ve never seen any.  Plenty of black bear around.  Coyote, bobcat and several members of the family mustelidae.

Your location just says North Woods, so not sure if Maine or the Northern Great Lakes states. I hear there used to be wolves in Maine, but they are gone now. At least they are near the coast. Maybe there are more predators further inland, but I so rarely see any. It would be pretty cool to see a black bear with my own eyes, they are normally so elusive. I've caught just two glimpses of the local coyote, but locals I know say you could go your whole life without laying eyes on one. I need to get some more game cameras and put them out in the woods where I see tracks.

DJ...I live in the southeastern part of the Minnesota wolf zone, not far from the Wisconsin border.

My next door neighbor plays in the band that's at the local Elks Club New Years. I don't drink, but went just to listen for a couple hours. I ended up being a designated driver, twice. Happy to do it, both times they were happy drunks and we had a few giggles driving them home. When I got home, me and a neighbor lit a brick of firecrackers off all at once to celebrate.

Careful what you wish for. Better be armed if you run into one chasing you out of it's territory like this one. Maybe it had a cub who knows but good thing dude had pistol or may have had to change his name to Claude Ballz.

In 1998^? I had a Mountain Lion in my yard, our neighbor's dog was grabbed by one about that time too. I came within a few feet of a Bob Cat once about then too, it ran away when it thought I was after it? I saw a black Jaguar about 120 yards away once, it was huge, much larger than the 180lb* mountain lion that left good foot prints (*est. 180lbs by the Game Warden). There has been quite a few Large Black Cat sightings within 75 miles of here the last 20 years or so.

Led the “first day” hike at the park.  Pretty good turnout.  I had about 25 people show up.  Theme was “ a fungus among us”.  Lots of molds and fungi around so it was an interesting walk.  Then I drove three boat tours.  Beaucoup birds, gators, manatee and other critters around so it was a good day.
