That is not how I see it, since I have been writing my own schedule the last five years, I just schedule whatever day off I want, but I would rather just work a few hours each day most of the time. And I do have Ch**ch pastor things to do all the time that I do not consider work, but I do not get specific about that on here.
 Just being retired from my secular full-time job is great and opened up a LOT of time (45-54 hours a week), but the greatest help is not having a secular work schedule that changes every Friday or daily at someone else's whim and with any retail business variations. I take Monday off most weeks, and now I define a day off as a day I do no chores or just make no plan and go with the flow.

 Lately I have to do lots of "estate work", being a Trustee of two estates. There is quite a bit ahead still before that work is done. My dad's estate is almost done, but I still have a house full and house to maintain in town until I get that done.

 My biggest problem is the freedom to not go with my plan, I guess I am constantly rebelling against myself, LOL. I get distracted, that is I now allow myself to get distracted easily.

I Jumped into the Club back around May.
Got to say I LOVE IT!
I am working part time with an old friend doing what I've done for years. Demoing stuff and installing flooring.
Now it's not so stress full and it's all close to Home so weeks away from home is not happening!
I no longer have to deal with Supervisors, Subcontractors, and other trades being in the way!
Blood pressure went WAY DOWN just from that!
I hated my job the last year or so but I'm enjoying the same work I've done for years!
Go figure.

Vulture patrol today.  It ain't all fun and games in this man's park service.

The Avian Flu is doing a number on our Black Vulture population this year.  Doesn't seem to be bothering the Turkey Vultures much.  This morning I took our youngest ranger (he looks like a recruiting poster for the boy scouts) out to "Vulture Island".  The Black Vultures are very social and flock together on a little spit of land back in the swamp.  Unfortunately their social nature makes them vulnerable to epidemics (Humans take note).  The island is adjacent to the tour route so if the buzzard carcasses start piling up we have to give nature a hand disposing of them.
As I eased the pontoon boat into what we call the "Jungle channel" we saw a mama gator called "Jolene" eating a dead vulture.  Good job!
At Vulture island I held the bow of the boat against the bank while the "Tater Tot" (park service slang for a newbie), dressed in a full HazMat suit, pitch forked buzzard carcasses into a garbage can.  Only seven this morning and that's down from yesterday so we hope the flu is abating.  Nobody loves vultures but here in Flarda that's our clean up crew!  Without Buzzards Florida would be a very smelly place!

Thanks Jeff, I have my little side jobs with my previous customers and also going back into my woodworking and art work. I was making good money and had a fantastic following as well. The first economy crash(gulf war) ended that venture and forced me to have full time employment until things got better. Now I have all the time in the world to pursue it again and not have work a second job doing it.

Picked up a lot of blow down branches.   In the 55 degree afternoon, I actually got out my electric chainsaw and cut up a bunch of dead trees and brush.   The woodland cleanup never ends.  I sure do love the electric chainsaw.   A battery runs out of juice at the same time I do.

I mucked the Alpaca Shacka and the chicken coop today. Since it's really warm today I'm leaving the coop window open to help with ventilation since I just stirred everything up.

It's not too bad. The cheap pine planer shavings help a ton with the smell and moisture control. Eventually I will have to shovel out the run/aviary, but they do a good job of turning their manure and litter and keeping it from building up a lot of ammonia. Long term I'm building another adjacent aviary and coop so I can give the current setup a rest in a few years.

We'd love to have chickens here but after our Neighbor killed a mountain lion in his chicken coop and all of the yotos we hear howling near by figured it would be a constant fight.😡

At nearly $1 apiece for eggs it might be a consideration.
At this rate I'll be reduced to lawn clippings for breakfast...

I have been keeping chickens for about 12 years now and  have had my fair share of chicken eating animals and their destruction. It can be a pain at times and joyful in other times.  I have a die off from old age and predation about every 3 to 5 years, it don't take long to replace them when the hens go broody. As for eggs, I can have over production at times. When the freezer is full of quiche or all the jars are full of pickled eggs, I will cook them and feed back to the birds to cut down on the food bill. In return, I get food, fertilizer, pest control, and alarm when something or someone is in the yard.

We have tons of coyotes in the area, and I know one comes for the game animal guts and dead rats I leave out in the woods. They never bother the coop, the worst I've had is a weasel that snatched on of my pullets this summer after digging through a rat tunnel under my hardware cloth. A mountain lion is pretty extreme and that's the first I've ever heard of one getting into a coop! I wish there were more predators hanging around, I would have even better pelts for tanning.

I currently have 30 laying hens with plans to continue expanding. The rats are worse than predators, but thankfully the rats can only get at the feed the chickens leave behind.
