Spent most of the day salvaging citrus fruit off my trees, picked most before the freeze. The rest got nailed. Hopefully the trees will bounce back this summer. All the trees were loaded this year and usually keep me in fruit until the end of March.

Tom, I finally called it quits the first of Dec. It was time to hang it up. I have been enjoying the peace and solitude of not having to put up with any of it any more. I know Bill can be a bad influence at times and his actions sometimes can lead you another direction.

I just got back from buying another John Deere Lawn tractor for the Ch**ch. They had three different prices $2899.00, $2,799.00, $2,499.00 for the same S130 model.

I picked the $2,499.00     

I had to talk to the manager, but he agreed to honor the lowest price posted, although a little reluctantly.

The first thing I said to him was you obviously have a signage problem on this, with three prices for one item number. He looked it up and told me at $2,499.00 they made 20%.

It will be delivered tomorrow before noon. It was going to be Saturday because that's when they could assemble it, but I said I'd just do the setup assembly if they could deliver it tomorrow morning, He liked that helpful and cost saving suggestion. I am sure the "assembly" isn't much, and I can handle it easily.

Was watching the weather and something was mentioned that I didn't even think of. The warm temps that are coming are going to melt all the snow that has fallen way fast causing alot of flooding in those areas that got hit. They also predicted another hard freeze around mid January.

I had the new S130 Lawn Tractor delivered, I mowed with it and must say I am impressed at how much better it is than our old L110. The old one had 17.5HP this one has 22HP.
 It was twice as fast to mow with , probably due mostly to the steering is way easier and it turns way sharper too. It goes up the hills without slowing down at all and flies down hill if I keep it floored. The old one was tired and labored a bit on the up hills and used a lot of oil.

It was a cool damp day but it was nice to mow without having to keep repairing something on the lawn tractor every couple of hours. I know the new won't last forever and may become a problem soon enough. I know that this 5 acres is not the relatively flat property that these lawn tractors were designed for. I ordered a set of Carlisle Super Lug tires for the back which are needed when the ground is dryer or wetter than it was today. Today the ground had an ideal amount of moisture for traction and the turf tires were adequate.
  I really like how mowing went today and love the smaller turning radius. It has more power and weighs 20LBS less somehow, not sure where they saved weight on this model. It has electric blade engagement which I am not sure is a plus, it may be something else to repair someday, but it nice to just pull a switch instead of the manual engagement arm.
 It runs a bit quieter which is also nice.

It lasted from 1995 until I sold the mower to a friend in 2018.
In 18 years I had to replace to motor once but not the electric clutch.

That’s some turning radius! Next best thing to a zero-turn, I bet. I love my Hustler, but I wish I kept my old Husqvarna tractor, just for pulling the trailer. Nice John Deere, Dan- wish you the best with it!

Yesterday it was fix the chickens plumbing, so that crowd is happy now. Cleaned out from around the house all the freeze killed weeds. Today finish getting the fruit juiced. Thanks for the retirement well wishes.
