Had a good meeting with a couple fellows that I meet weekly with on Wednesday mornings. Mowed 2/3 of my lawn and then visited my family doctor. The doctor is referring me out to a couple more doctors- gastro & ortho… then went to work. Had a not so good conference call with 2 of my bosses… then headed an hour south to fix a machine no one else could fix. In fact, the last guy that was there was barred from going back there by the site manager. I fixed that machine, came home to a hot meal that was fabulous, made by my wife. Showered and I’m headed to bed. Tomorrow’s a new day.

After Betty Lou's dental appt., blood work at the doctor for both of us and breakfast at "Tater's", I came home and mowed the entire 5 acres then loaded up the atvs onto the trailer for tomorrow's adventure in the mud. Here is where we'll be tomorrow...https://alabamamudpark.com/

I'm having a really bad, sad day. I just listed a beloved item on Craigslist. My Honda XR 600. Other dirt bikes have come and gone but I've had this one for over 30 years. I can't take the risk of another bad fall which could screw me up for the rest of my like. This old man will not likely ever own another dirt bike.
I've only crashed a street bike once. I don't believe anyone who has owned a dirt bike would claim they never crashed it. Today's discomforts from riding and crashing dirtbikes are a small price to pay compared to the incredible fun and adrenaline rushes from decades of dirtbikes. I'd definitely do it all over again.

How are you suppose to know if you could have gone higher or faster without finding the other side of the limit? There are a few that are content with staying well in the "safe zone". I never saw the fun in that! As far as road bikes I have had two crashes with "blind drivers" and still ride, because I still can. The first one there was some sand and dirt left by a road repair crew that interfered with my traction needed to miss the van that suddenly turned left from the right turn lane with their right signal on. My left shoulder made a 4"? deep dent in the Dodge Van and my left leg was pinched between the Van and gas tank, my leg crushed my gas tank. I have hard bones, none were broken but it was very hard to get around for a few months. The second crash I was hit by a Ford F250 4x4 that was tired of waiting for his turn at a stop sign on the highway and tried to beat the car behind me, which he did do, problem was he didn't see me. I got a Subarachnoid hemorrhage out of that along with a lot of severe bruising, again no broken bones that time either. I broke a lot of bones when I was younger, most of my ribs have multiple healed fractures. I never went to the doctor once to get checked up after dirt bike crashes, I just walked or hobbled it off.

Box stock and 750cc super sport. Canyon racer too. Downhill mountain bike racer. Adrenaline junky. All old racers talk about is their crashes and I could talk for hours!
Kris, I've got good news and bad news: Good news - in a few years, when you retire, you will have five more days each week to do those things around your place. Bad news - there are no more weekends.

I am looking forward to the day that I can do more stuff on the weekend and a few days during the week and take time off to fish and hunt during the rest of the week.
