Since I live in a resort area. Most of the houses are weekenders and second homes. A buddy who was coming to his camp gave me a call. He started to tell me a story. He was towing a trailer up to the lake and stopped for lunch with the wife. Busted his shifter on the truck and was lucky enough it was stuck in drive. About a mile before he got to his camp the right rear brake hung up. He pulled into the drive and made a big loop facing down the driveway attempting to put the truck in reverse when he realized he was screwed. They decided to just get out side at the table and each lunch. Five minutes later his wife yelled the truck is rolling. Se it was in neutral and the only thing holding it was the stuck brake. Down the drive and off into a BIG ditch in the woods. This brings his story to my call. So he needed some help. After towing the trailer and truck out spent the afternoon running for parts and fixing a shifter linkage. Turned out ok and they seam happy again. I guess this makes me happy. So ya that was my day. My wife tells me all the time if I got paid for all the things I help people with I would be well off. I tell her it will all come out at the end. Guess I will work on the range tomorrow.

I've had some days like that. I had to run to another town to get some livestock feed and bedding, and the shop owner mentioned my brakes smelled pretty hot. My parking brake has always been too tight or too loose since I bought the truck in 2018. My mechanic has already replaced all of the rear brake components, I would do it myself but it's near impossible to lift a diesel dually on gravel/sand/mud. Well, when I got home after 70+ miles round trip, the rear passenger wheel well was smoking. Hard to see anything with steel DRW, so it's going to wait until the end of the month when the mechanic has time. Might run a few miles to the nearby gas station to fill up my gas cans, but that's about it. It's a shame because we need to make a dump run, but that's a 26 mile round trip and I don't want my brake lines to catch fire. I'm sure I already boiled the fluid on that circuit. My ABS light came on when we had to pick up the MIL from the airport, 150 mile round trip, but no heat or smoke that day. The joys of a used 2006 diesel with over a quarter million miles!

Can you take a pic of that to show us here or describe how you did it? The crew I previously used wacked the paint off the wood wall of my store room when cutting weeds so I fired them and do it myself ever since. I just cut the weeds near idle speed so the line doesn't take any paint off the wall but I for one would like to see your custom shield regardless.

Helped the wife put in her garden. Corn, beans, peas beets, yellow squash and don't remember what. Took the trash that I don't burn to the transfer station aka the dump.

Tossed a lot of limbs into my mower's dump trailer and dumped several loads in the woods. Cleaned up glass where someone wrecked so I didn't get flat mower tires then did a lot of mowing. Getting a new ac unit installed after two days of no ac and thankfully it hasn't been real hot out.

The 10 in east Texas is a mess right now.  All that flooding a couple of years back.  They are still working on all the bridges and culverts.  I’m decompressing today but the work starts tomorrow.  We’re closing up my wife’s father’s house since he has gone into assisted living care.  Lots of stuff to sift through.  What to keep and what to dispose of.  Not looking forward to it.  Makes me too morbid about my own aging.

A friend of mine had a 335i m-sport sedan around the same vintage. It created a new block inspection window while he was driving it, but he took it drag racing and to autocross events (let me co-drive with him at a few). Sounds like a lot of the short blocks had some issues in the bearing journals, because I doubt you wife drove that car as hard as we beat that 335i, which gave up under warranty with like 30k miles. Since you wife's car is naturally aspirated, it sounds like the crank bearing wasn't getting any oil, and maybe the rod got twisted or bent when the bearing was dry with a lot different rotational forces than normal. I take it you are well outside of the warranty period. If you are lucky they can save the block and just replace the rotating assembly, but being a BMW you may be better off selling it and getting a different car.

217 miles above the surface of the earth, there is a satellite in an elliptical orbit.  When one has lost information due to a computer upgrade, that is where it goes.  You might have difficulty seeing it through a powerful telescope because it is black.  It is known as BLACK HOLE II.

I think I just killed a correl snake. It was only about 12 inches long and maybe 1/2 in diameter. Never seen anything like it and I've dealt with a lot of different snakes in my life. I probably would have tried to just get it out of the fenced part of the yard but my dogs were all around at the time.

After physical therapy we took our friends, who are here visiting, sailing.  We were out most the day until we found a nice cove where we dropped the hook and had lunch.  The wives where tired so they went below for naps and we were treated to low flying fighter jets, transports, and harrier.  A great day on the water
