The memsahib and I finally got some free time to celebrate “her day”. We went to tractor supply, several thrift stores, a big garden center and her favorite Chinese restaurant! She picked out a rose bush like she does every year for her present. It was a great day.My 83 year old mother and her 75 year old husband are rock crawling in their Jeep somewhere in southern Utah. They got stuck in a snow drift on mother’s day and spent the night stranded in the Barrancas until search and rescue could get them out. Next week they will be running a portion of the San Juan river in their canoe. My mom is a hardcore adrenaline junkie who loves to paddle white water in an open canoe. Her motto is “Open boat , open mind.”Go mom!

Vacuumed about 20 gallons of water out of 7 or 8 offices. A drinking water fountain in the hallway sprung a leak when nobody was around this weekend. It flooded the hallway and a little got into a few rooms, but a lot ran to our end of the hall and went under the door into the office suite. From there it spread out, eventually finding penetrations that allowed it to drop onto the ceiling tiles below. (Our building is entirely cast concrete and masonry walls.) Upon being soaked, these collapsed into the Dean's office and that of his secretary. Continuing to flow, it wet his carpet and then found the penetrations into the next office space (not carpeted) and then one more floor into a lab in the subbasement (also not carpeted). I didn't get to those two bottom levels today, but I'll check on them tomorrow.Others were working to clean up and had nearly finished by the time I showed up, but I didn't think their wet-dry vac was doing a very good job. Our department had its own carpet cleaner which I then used to get the 15 gallons or so that the crew had missed with their unit in our suite. Downstairs, I got less water in part because the janitor had already used our cleaner down there (it is on permanent loan to them--they keep it in their closet--saves them getting one sent up from facilities) and because that is a newer rubber-backed carpet tile that doesn't hold as much water as the old style carpet upstairs did. It does, however, require a few slow passes to get what comes back up from under the tiles as you move around cleaning them...Took me about 6 hours...
I came home from work and changed out of my uniform into something more comfortable...Went to the local Auto parts store to buy brake pads., and while checking out the Lovely young counter Girl burst out laughing. I was stupefied.. what did I do? Her reply was "Sorry... I just read your shirt"Then I looked down at what I had thrown on for comfort. So apparently dis Boy "ain't right" to be out in public.....
