/\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\  Matt, next time just use straight up white vinegar to clean your grates, soak over night fully covered. I do that with heavily rusted cast iron cooking ware. It will take everything off to the bare metal, then oil and heat up to reseason.

As for me, mow grass, plant fruit trees, take down dead trees, and anything else to get ahead of the jungle.

It was 86 yesterday, it is suppose to get in the 80's all week, so I need to tale advantage of the "perfect" weather for all the things that need done on the Church property. I need to buy a new lawn tractor. On the one I have, I have worn out two sets of deck spindles and two complete decks with and replaced the transmission, fuel tank once, fuel pump twice too and of course countless blades. (I mow weeds to the dirt, not exactly what they are built for) The engine is getting tired, it uses almost a quart of oil every 6 hours now. This is the second Lawn tractor I have worn out since 1997. I plan to relegate it to lawn tractor "trailer duty" when I get the new one to mow with.

As joking say that one thing many pastors have in common with Jesus is "getting mistaken for the gardener" LOL.
  I would have the Church hire it done, but the times I have had others do it did not meet my satisfaction .
  So it is my own fault that it is my job, for those that wonder why I do it myself. Having perfectionist tendencies is hard on one's self. I have found that my dad was right when he always said "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself!"   Oh well, even with my pain, I feel it is good for me to keep physical as I can in the long run.

I have my machinist friend helping me set up my restored 6-18 Atlas lathe in my garage.  Not only am I learning how to shoot air guns, I hope to learn how to run a metal lathe.  Trouble is the lathe thing is interrupting my range time LOL

The spade was my mother's (no one was allowed to touch her "shovel").  The two sledge hammers were my father's.  One of the rakes belonged to my step-mom other one was mine. Rest are mine.  Yes that grill is built to last, it is made out of 3/16" plate. That grill is about 15 years old.

Thank you Dan.  My first project will be making chips without crashing something.  After that I have some vise handles to clean up and polish, then in week two when I'm a professional lathe operator, the sky's the limit .  There has to be something small I can make for air guns I just have to figure that out as I go.

I got up today and discovered my Dell 19" monitor died while I slept. I had Samsung 920BW 19" that works fine setting on my other desk, and I hooked it up for a while but went out and bought an Asus 24". I now have a duel set up with a 24” main and the Samsung 920BW 19" as the secondary. I have to get use to the mouse cursor traveling back and forth, but I think I like it.

I have had a duel monator set up for years now and I still lose the cursor...

This is my current desk setup.

Yes we are I do love my Captain Black Royal my grandmothers sister smoked it so I am a bit predisposed to like it you know childhood memories. The one on the far right is a MacQueen fashioned to look like Gandalf's pipe and is my prized pipe. Second from the right is a large bowl churchwarden the company Lennarts Pfeifenbau has since gone out of business before I bought it. The small bowl is a Dr Grabow that I like for a quick smoke my second oldest pipe the larger one I really like because it houses a 9mm filter same as the LP pipe. The pipe I have had the longest is in a tote in storage it is a large bowl Dr Grabow.

You are a connoisseur sir.  I have a cigar humidor with a collection of old briars and a couple of battered meerschaums.  I mainly smoke cigars these days because good pipe tobacco is hard to come by.  I used to smoke McBairn’s navy blend, Captain Black, and Borkum Riff.  I can’t find any of that stuff any more.

I don't smoke every day but when I do I accept nothing less than perfect 3 days ago I packed my prized CW and had a great smoke tonight I did the same and that tobacco has went sour. I do like a good cigar but for the most part they are too pungent for me.

I don't smoke every day but when I do I accept nothing less than perfect 3 days ago I packed my prized CW and had a great smoke tonight I did the same and that tobacco has went sour. I do like a good cigar but for the most part they are too pungent for me.
