Woke up at 5 am to go pick up my son from work.  Came home and tried to drink some coffee that had been left out overnight.  YUCK!

Took my truck in to have the oil changed. Had a looong phone conversation with GTAs very own Lt. Dan.  Great talking with ya Dan!  Then it was time to pick up the truck.  Wife dropped me off and I ran by a fast food fish place and brought lunch home for everyone.  Cleaned up then milled around a bit then took a nap.  Woke up and headed to the shop and started resawing wood to make glue up blanks for some projects I have in mind.  My wife and oldest son are starting to make dinner so I thought that I would be safer out in the shop so I'm just sitting here surfing the web and sipping coffee.  😎

Yes I just checked it was a tad long. Just a few seconds over 2 hours and 15 minutes. 

Wow. It was indeed a great conversation, I really enjoyed talking and getting to know you.

When I went in my wife had prepared a burger and beans for my lunch. As we talked over lunch, she asked what we talked about.  I shared some of our conversation and afterward she replied,  Brett sounds like a really nice man and super father. I said yep, my feelings as well.

I had talked close to an hour with Mark611 on Friday and he called back today. We were in the middle of our conversation (32 minutes) when I received a call from my daughter in Memphis. Of course my conversation Mark had to be cut short cause when my kids call, they have priority.

So today I was actually on the phone for close to 4 hours total today.
I really enjoyed talking to Brett, Mark and Mandy today as much as I would have shooting.

Yesterday was the Winter Solstice.  It means a lot to me and my girlfriend- we took a walk on a 25-acre stretch of land I may purchase in Charles City County.  We're not in a rush to buy anything- we just love being outside.

Speaking of which, as of December 16th, I'm officially divorced.  An outsider would think I lost a lot of money; I think I bought my freedom from a very toxic and controlling woman.  Money well spent!

I finally go to wrap a pile of Christmas gifts I had piling up since last month. Besides winning an auction for that very nice 761XL @ $214.98 out the door. But dang Field Supply for shipping my 50 bucks worth of hand-rolled cigars with Maduro wrapper by USPS. They're backed up all over the place, including the Cleveland hub my cigars are at by now. They said Tracking not available. I was going to smoke a couple of them while outside pit bbqing the 22lb turkey.

Today among other things I checked the rat bait under the shop shelf outside and it was all gone so I covered the hole with dirt believing they were dead. Two dug themselves up out of the covered hole and I stomped them both. Will check for new activity tomorrow but I believe that was the last of them. Hopefully I'm not mistaken but if so I'll put more bait in there for them.

Serviced the back up generator and the 24 volt storage battery. Found out that the replacement cost is around$8000 .

You are off grid aren’t you?  We are still hooked up to the grid but are transitioning to solar.  The cost of storage batteries is a big impediment to cutting free of the utility company.  We are pretty independent until the sun goes down.
Anyhoo..  I sat in the ranger station and watched it rain all day.  I’m pulling holiday shifts so other rangers can have the holidays off.  I acquire merit.

6 month vampire donation(blood work), then cleaned up flooded chicken pens, got 4 inches of rain over the weekend so that drowned everything in the yard again. Attempted on line shopping at wally world, that went south, half the stuff will be here in 2 days, I will wait a few days for the store to restock from the holidays.

A couple trees fell on the fence so there was a lot of other small tree, brush and vine cutting just to access the fallen trees with the tractor to lift them off the fence and push them away. I then drove several T posts and tied the fence back up. Adjusted some other barb wire on pipe posts then tied them tight to prevent hogs coming through since some of those wires had loose ties where the hogs could grab them and slide them up or down to pass through. That wore me out but I got it all done.

My dad handed one down to me as a kid which no longer works, but the quality is great and I wanted another.
They were made for Kilgore in the 70's by an Italian blank gun manufacturer.





Today I decided to make some walnut grips for it, these deserve more than just press fit plastic grips.
( I'm pretending I didn't accidentally drop it and break the plastic grips )

Removed my deer blind from my elevated platform. 22*F and 15 mph breeze. My finger were numb from untying all the anchors for the blind. Got it back into the pole barn and into my truck to get home. Fingers were so cold my cell phone would not recognize my swipe so I could not text.

I bought/ordered a new stock (the CAPPUCCINO) for another custom r%&fire build 







I am pretty sure they are made by Minelli 

The butt pad has cant, up and down, and retractable adjustments.

If I like it I will order another one in Cobalt or Timber.
