Nothing planned today for projects, maybe a trip to Home Depot, get some Thompson's Water Seal in the Green can; I need to cost the Wine Barrel.

112 degrees is where the temp is going, this has been a warn couple of months, and will be for at least another week.  Triple digits most of the next week.

At work for a double at the end of the week.  Much easier week than initially expected.  2 of the OT shifts I was supposed to work fell through so I only had 2 extra shifts to work this week.  Today is the last day of my work week and then off to a 3 day weekend.  YEAH BABY!

My parents are coming over to visit tomorrow.  Monday heading to the ocean for the day and Tuesday will be catch up on the house day then back to a double shift on Wednesday with more during the rest of the week.  Kids start school Wednesday.

The last time I mowed, the grass was tall & thick & wet from showers. Then it got hot & dry & dusty, especially in the sunny spots. Then it started to shower. Needless to say my bright yellow Hustler was trashed. So, yesterday morning I loaded her on the trailer and took her to the car wash. Went for a drive to dry her out. Brought her home and finished cleaning under the deck & put on sharp blades. Got all the mowing done yesterday afternoon with the shoot down and everything looks great. I’ve still got line trimming to do, but I’ll probably wait til this evening so I can get some shooting in after Church.

DR back together, finish chopping down the jungle, maybe I can find my boat in this mess. Gone 3 days without rain so the yard dried out enough mow the rest with the Craftsman. I will be glad when the grass quits growing for a minute.

So, yesterday morning I loaded her on the trailer and took her to the car wash. Went for a drive to dry her out.

I washed mine yesterday and used the leaf blower to dry it all out with the blades turning at full rpm to dry under the deck.

Amen! This is the first year of my life that I've ever had to mow the grass twice a week from day one of spring until now. It's like God put Miracle Grow in the rain.

I have mowed the grass here in January, I don't think we have a winter anymore.

Finished my first mowing job today.. broke the belt on my Z turn had had to use their JD rider. Took twice as long to do the job. The grass should have been cut a couple week ago and I had to cut about a third of it three times at different levels. I'll definitely need to cut it once a week to keep up with it. I'll get a belt for mine z turn tomorrow.

My daughter and her fiance have moved in with us!  Oh frabjuous day!  Kaloo, Kalay!   So today was fix the septic connection to the guest cottage day.  After several gallons of perspiration and even more profanity we decided that if Mahmood cannot go to the mountain then the mountain must come to Mahmood.  We're going to have to jack the entire cottage up 4 to 6 inches to get positive flow to the septic tank.
No problem.  We have the tools and we have the talent.  I've got a 20 ton jack and the fiancé is an immense pile of solid muscle.  Today we disconnected the anchors and the utilities.  Tomorrow morning I'll pick up some more concrete blocks and hopefully we will have it all done by the evening.

Went out to storage to get my death trap and put it in the new "workshop". The guy down stairs and I worked out an agreement that I will supply tools and he will supply the space. He has already proved to be reliable about replacing anything broken or lost. Started to fill my old service cart with tools today and helped him take the lower unit off his old merc 9.9. Now to get the yz back together so we can ride this weekend.

Sonja and I rolled out to West Virginia after work on Friday.  We arrived in Davis at a family home and it was cool- mid-50s.  We hit the hay pretty quick, then woke up the following morning and headed to her sister's cabin above town.  We (the two of us, her sister, and sister's husband) then headed out on a 3-mile hike, including her sister's beagle- who just recovered from surgery a couple months ago.  Petey (the beagle) did fine, though his rear legs drag a little.  Well, fast forward Saturday and we were shooting airguns and grilling chicken at the sister's place.  We wrapped up and headed back- had a couple drinks and hit the hay.  Sunday was more of the same- we had to stage a shuttle since we were doing a longer hike.  This time around, 7 1/2 to 8 miles, but Petey the Beagle gave up after 1 1/2 miles.  He was drinking from a stream and said Nope, no further!

So we spent the next 5 1/2 to 6 miles carrying Petey- 40 pounds of lovable beagle.  He'd fuss whenever we were on a downhill so he would waggle his way down, but on the uphills he got the ride first-class in our arms.  We'd swap off   We wrapped up with some grilled steaks and hard cider back at the cabin.  Another early night, and on to Monday- we picked apples from the community trees in Davis (literally right behind the house) and then headed back home via Route 33. 

I finally got to see Seneca Rocks, which was nice.  Also saw a lot of people who clearly want to meek their maker.  We were passed a number of times on double-yellow-line curves and we were still doing a couple miles over the limit.  There's several spots on 33 where if you go off the edge, you'll probably do a vertical transit in excess of 500 feet before you hit anything. 

Didn't do a lot of shooting this trip but had a real blast, saw some amazing vistas, and proved flip-flops are superb hiking shoes

I remember hiking in Mexico in my $265 REI hiking boots and being burned by our 16 year old guide wearing sandals.

Indeed!  I wore my Chacos on the 4-miler, but opted for lighter-weight footwear on the long one; my Reefs   It may seem a little crazy but the trails we went on were well marked and the roots/rocks were all easy-peasy.  Carrying a 40-pound beagle up some of those grades was a little tricky, but not too hard.

I used to hike Mt Tam in the north bay using boots until one day I realized I forgot them.  All I had was my slips so I wore them- surprised and amazed, and my feet actually felt better at the end.  Sore, but not bone-aching.  Since then, I try to gauge what's best by packing good shoes and slips.  The latter weigh nothing comparitively.

Got my yz250f back together after a long hiatus when I discovered the water pump leaking. While it was down in the past months it got a 3 gallon tank new chain and sprockets with 1 tooth down in the front to what I hoped complement the FMF pipe on it. It did it pulls like it used to when it had a OEM pipe on it. Something with the pilot jet isn't quite right something I have been having issues with since the day I bought it. Cannot wait for the ride this weekend.

Tom, I am right behind ya, I have a crown job in October. Filling came out and the tooth was starting to crack, so a temp filling was done and try not to break the tooth before I get it crowned.  The last on resulted in major extraction and a nesbit for one tooth in it's place.

I blew my airgun budget for the next few (many?) months becoming a member of the "New-to-me-Truck-club".   Found a cherry 2017 Nissan Titan.  Under 24k miles, and when I opened the Owner's Manual, a placard with the extended warranty info fell out.  I thought it had 3/36k, but it is 5/100k.  Barebones S-trim, singlecab with an 8-foot bed.  It has the three things I wanted but was having a hard time finding in a single-cab long-bed: slider in back, power windows, and Bluetooth
