No, with my wife's snake phobia that just wasn't possible. I have eaten rattle snake before and it was good. Turns out it was a black rattle snake which id never heard of before.

We spent yesterday driving around Charles City County- and I do mean all day. Sure, we took several walks- one by the fish hatchery and another on a beach by a public boat ramp on the James River. We shot the breeze with a gentleman casting a net for baitfish about fish, the river, and the pandemic. Like us, he found this time period one of the best of his life. He was a tradesman and enjoying all the time off with his family, plus he had a lot more time to go fishing. He mentioned he was still getting plenty of work to pay bills and then some, but he wasn't putting in 70-hour-weeks.

Sonja and I found a couple properties we liked, but actually got a chance to walk the perimeter of a 10.3 acre lot. We approached a nearby property owner and walked up, rung the doorbell, and asked permission to park alongside their yard, and the guy that answered seemed tickled to death we were interested in the property, which abuts a working farm (with sheep in the field). As we walked the road, Sonja said I'd easily be able to get a permission at the farm given how many coyote we've seen lately.

I left the agent voicemail, a text, and sent an email, but I guess she's not very hungry. The property's price has been cut in half hence our excitement, but with an agent taking the weekend off, not surprised it hasn't sold yet.

We actually ate out last night- then headed home- good fun day. But even better- we were perusing some houses online and found a fixer-upper really worth investigating. We may go check it out this evening.

Sonja and I are still contemplating some land, so we followed up on some leads.

We checked out that fixer upper... weird situation with the septic field, the property line, and the ownership. While tempting, we decided No Thanks. We're sort-of focused on a nifty 10-acre plot still. Close to what we like, rural setting, a hop skip and a jump off the James River and a 2 minute bike ride from good eating, 10 minute bike ride from Sonja's sister's property (with direct access on Queen's Creek feeding the James), and likewise 2 minutes to the Capital Trail.

Amazing how signs will indicate motivated seller and agent, but you leave VM, texts, and email and nobody has the wherewithal to follow up. I know why so many businesses fail: the idiot owners are too darn lazy to follow up!

Good on you for taking the time to do that. Life should be lived in a healthy balance. My grandfather never did because he was too busy making his next dollar. He loved me but he was a workaholic. I would have been happier having with less things and more time with him. Your way is best. I've never met a man at the end of his life on his deathbed who said I wished I would have worked more and spent less time with family. Mine said the opposite.

A lot of people accidentally run into things on mowers. A guy who worked for me was driving too fast around the corner and pried the corner board loose from my shop wall. Never let me know or even tried to fix it so I fixed it for him then fired his sorry butt. Guys for hire are usually hauling A to finish several jobs in the day which leaves more ruts in the grass during turns and increases the likelihood for scalping, scrapes against fences, broken sprinklers ect. I noticed the weed eater guy was in such a hurry he was wacking the paint off the walls and cutting through some wires that didn't have conduit around them, not to mention digging deep trenches while using it for vertical cutting. He left long cuts of line on the ground and the crew let cig butts and trash fall out of their truck too so I put a stop to all of that.

Now I do it all myself saving money and a lot of property damage although I do make mistakes now and then too just not a lot of them like they did.

You're welcome. I too learned much from mine. None of us are perfect so I don't hold grudges over things he did or didn't do. We had a lot of good times and I had a lot of blessings through him so that's what matters in the end.

The drive belt on my Cub Cadet mower shredded so while trying to replace it I discovered the square hole on the tensioner was blocked by the pulley which it's not supposed to be as according to their diagram it's for use with a socket wrench to stick in the hole to pry back the tensioner where you can put the belt on. So what was supposed to be a 1 minute job turned into a 30 minute ordeal from hades that wore me out to the point of nearly puking repeatedly using a pry bar with all my strength to finally get the belt on, all while getting cuts on my elbows and hands from the sharp edges on the transmissions and other parts that they couldn't be bothered to smooth down at the factory.

I told them I wish I knew the guy at the factory that put that faulty tensioner on there because I'd like to beat him up where he'd be as sore and cut up as me to know how it feels. I told them that's not a good way to get repeat customers so they need to improve their quality control. I have no use for idiots who do krap work unnecessarily screwing their customers when it's completely preventable.

Had that happen with an Allis GT this spring, seems when the drive belt let go it forced the tensioner out of its proper position and took some fiddling to get things to spring back in place. I kinda feel your pain , but this was at work so I was paid well for the fix

Burned 200 acres of mesic flatwoods. I'm still on light duty because of shoulder surgery. The boss needed me to be Public Information Officer for a prescribed burn today. I showed up in my nomex and burn boots and told her that people paid more attention if I looked like a fire fighter. I can handle a drip torch one handed.

Stayed in out of the 110 degree heat mostly. At least it was only 20% humidity, so it was a dry heat and the evaporative cooler worked well keeping the house 78 and below today. That's great for a 1/3 the cost of A.C.

I set up all mine to pay automatically and my income gets auto deposited too so, it frees up that time. I just keep an eye on things to make sure all is ebb and flowing.

Had enough left over so Betty Lou and I can spend tomorrow at the ATV park. Not taking the RV. Just the truck and trailer.... poor old Rambo has to stay home.
Work has been 7 days a week nutz so we haven't been in a month or so. It'll be a good break.

Well you know.... that oven cleaner should be used in a well ventilated area.... it can have some ill affects....
