Got a "911" call today from Hoosier Momma in tears. Our 19 year old family pet was down for the count... she has been struggling for 2 weeks but today was day 3 of not leaving "Her Spot" and was crying out in pain.At 9:00 I left work to take her to the vet to be "put down". Picked her up at noon then dug a hole. Almost 20 years ago, there was a stray Feral Tortie who had 3 kittens then proceeded to get run over in the road. Hoosier Momma scowered the property perimeter and found them. They were probably 6 weeks old.Pook was the only survivor of the 3. She out lived her own 3 babies and now is in my 50 Year old "Pet Cemetery".I hate planting pets.
Another forum member and I have applied for a special hunt here in the Republik of Kalifornia. We cannot use lead anymore. So I loaded some coppers for the Carl Gustaf .30-06Now we wait for the drawing...
She was a "Cool Cat" ... would Box with me till I was bloody.... dang sharp claws. Best "Mouser" ever and would put our 57 lbs Boxer / Lab mix in her place!!
The "Pet Cemetary" is a hallowed place to me here.... and nobody truly knows my ritual (until now)... Too many long gone friends planted there over the years. Daffodils or an Iris planted on top of each as a marker. Maybe someday, no one may know what lies beneath... but I hope they preserve the flowers and that is enough for me.Pooky will get a Yellow Iris to stand out among the purple ones.... and compliment the Daffodils.
Today is Michele’s 48 b-day. We made waffles with strawberries and whipped cream for breakfast, opened presents and just piddled around all day. Did some various small things around the house, played with kids, lounged. Now we’re are gearing up for an at home Mexican dinner, special aqua Fresca and blended frozen fruit for dessert.
So we had another scheduled power outage today, it was suppose to have been off from 9AM to 4:30PM, but it just came back on at 7PM. So ,my grandson that is staying with us and myself (my wife had other plans today) took a ride up in the mountains and had a great day scraping floorboards in the curves and cruising though the pines. We ate a late breakfast at a diner and hiked around one small lake and got an ice cream cone at the little ice cream shop in the tiny mountain town. The temperature was perfect, not hot or cold. We got home about 4:30 and he just messed around on his phone and I sat and talked with my wife on the porch swing for a couple of hours. I finally came into my office and turn my computer on (UPS powered) and got on the internet and after about five minutes the electricity came back on. The freezer got up to 18F and the fridge got up to 55F (wife pushed the power cool button to get it cooled back down quick). I probably should have used one of the generators to power it at least for a little while.

That’s great, Brett! Wish Michele a Happy Birthday from the GTA! Today’s our Anniversary, got home from work about an hour an a half ago, now it’s time for bed! On call this weekend.
