Seems like just the other day... "Time sure fun when your havin' flies."

Seems like just a few years ago we were just some springer/pumper guys trying to get the best results, while wondering what the heck these new fangled PCB's er whatever, had over tried n true.

 BTW Did some landscaping improvements over the weekend, divided some hostas since they got large enough to provide enough divisions to create a border with accents. Cleaned out old mulch and plan on using stone vs. wood this time due to agricultural weed seeds always blowing in off the highway. Also ordered some unique solar landscape lights, will followup in the Garden Gate with pictures with arrows and descriptions below.

Bantam, those boots made me cringe.   I used to have identical boots.  A long time ago when I was a rookie LEO, I had a sargent who was possibly the stupidest, most incompetent, characterless A-hole I've ever had the displeasure of working with.   Too cowardly to back you up.  Too stupid or lazy to write a proper report.   But he was really good at shining  boots and badges.   He would yell at me because my brass and boots didn't meet his standards of excellence.  After I was on the department for a while and understood the game a little better, I made it a point to not have shiny boots when he was also on duty, just to p--ss him off.    I don't ever plan to shine footwear again as long as I live.

I'd sure hate doing it if I had to,  but since I don't I can do a little here and there while I'm watching TV after work till I get 'em where I want.

It's been pretty warm lately so I haven't done a ton of shooting, I can't say I'd rather be polishing a pair of boots than out back shooting but it will be satisfying if I can achieve a parade gloss just once.

My dad thought I was crazy a well when he heard I was polishing these up, 12 years in the ARMY gave him his opinion I suppose.

Tracked down a sweet used 15’ Grumman aluminum canoe - perfect condition.  Picking it up tomorrow.   Ahhh I loved paddling one of these as a kid.

That's a great score!  Grummans turn up with good regularity here in VA, but prices have really climbed a bit- used to run $250 tops, now you cannot find a 14-footer or smaller under $400 and the 15 to 17 footers run north of $600...

Though I've tracked down a Sears 16-footer made by Grumman.  BTW, some car wax will not only extend the life, the repellent nature of the wax makes them even "slicker" in the water   If I can pull off nabbing that 16, I'll be making some cedar paddles for a summer project.


Lesseee... my girlfriend and her sister finished moving all my stuff from the house I rented to here (GF's house) so I'm about as moved in as I can be.  My month-to-month living expenses are falling by about 80% hence some of my recent purchases.  Doing lots of tidying-up, cleaning, and general "ain't used it in 2 years so I don't need it anymore" type clearing.

Nice, my grandfather had one.
My dumb thief of a cousin gave it away after my grandfather died when she was the ' caretaker " for my grandmother.
I was only a kid, but I definitely wanted to inherit that canoe so I could fish in it with my dad like I never got to with my grandfather.
We fished off the bank and from his boat a couple times, but of course I was too young to be in a canoe.

Bid on a junk Mossberg 152... It has all the parts I am in need of to finish the rebuild on mine...and cheaper than buying those part individually.
Figure I will part it out and keep the good stuff for spare cuz some interchange with my 151-M(B) as well.

Spent the last few days tying down, cleaning up, gassing up, taking inventory on food stores, and anything that has to be dealt with before this storm makes up it mind where it is going. Micheal caught me off guard to some extent on some things. The pandemic situation has not helped either. Just have to wait and see how this is going to go this summer.

started the day out buying supplies to rebuild a part of the deck, and then the afternoon in the shop designing and gluing up wood for a new tiller for the small sailboat.

My driveway is gravel, about 700 ft long. I live on a hill. We have had the heaviest,  hardest rains this spring. 

Gravel driveway + hillside + heavy rain = washed out drive

Last night we had an inch of rain in about 30 minutes.  The proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.  I got my Massey Ferguson 230 and the box blade and now....ta da....gravel interstate. 

Till the next monsoon comes.

Painted my reactive targets.  Painted two toolboxes.  Painted my two small anvils.
Took the deflector shield (bug shield) off my pickup truck.  [ High winds yesterday blew a 6' folding table against my pickup's hood shattering the bug shield ].

No air gun today. Maybe tomorrow.

I went for a morning bicycle ride.  After the rains last night, the air was so clean and fresh and HUMID!

Roof inspection, repair any loose screws and patch any holes. Cleaned out and fixed the brackets on the gutters. Waiting to see which way the "ball" will roll. Mike, I can relate to HUMID, it's staggering right now here.
