My mother-in-law fell and broke her hip. I went to see her @ the nursing home where she'll be for rehab. I had to sit outside in my folding chair and visit with her on her cell phone thru the window. Made some poster board signs to cheer her up. She told me they gave her a Covid-19 test, nursing home wouldn't admit her unless she passed, she's now in 14 day isolation. I hate to say it, but a little voice in the back of my head is telling me she'll never go back home. She's 89, tough as nails, but her body is just wore out.

It happened ~45 years ago clearing the jeep trails at a deer camp at Port Gibson near where Grand Gulf Nuclear power plant stands now. I had been using a Homelite XL chainsaw all day long. My arm was exhausted and the strength just gave out, blue jeans jammed the chain but not before leaving a mear nasty flesh wound. Yes Scott it a lesson neither of us will forget.
well the carpenter arrived, assessed the damage and installed the door in under 20 minutes. then...he refused payment! i tried to get him to accept something, but he said "we don't charge for 15 minutes of work".really nice guy too. i saved his info in my phone and will be calling him the next time i need something, or someone i know needs work done. makes me feel good about today's youth. his parents should be proud of him, and themselves, for doing such a great job raising him.
Someday a Norton Manx... Or if I hit the lottery a Brough Superior. ....meanwhile , back at the ranch.. Grandma is beating off the Indians but they keep coming. My 57lb mutt decided to roll in something dead. Stink to hi Hades! Smelled like a rotten carp in August. So she (we) got a bath . Dang Dawg got me almost as wet as she was!
Work’s been a little chaotic. Yesterday was a rough one, but couldn’t complain... that is til I got home. I’m saying hi to the dogs and my my wife’s on the phone, she looks up and says “does that say 77* in here or 71*”. I look and the tstat says 77*. So I go outside, purge my gauges and connect to the heat pump, and it s u c k s it down. I fixed a leak back in December and here I go again. Found and fixed the leak, also removed the problem, a plastic coil support from right above both leaks I repaired. I tried to replace all the supports with rubber vibration isolator pads, but they were about an 3/16” too tall, I couldn’t get the top down without causing further damage. So I put 5 of the 6 supports back in (with the exception of the culprit) and put everything back together. Evacuated to 550 microns, weighed in the charge and started her up in the dark. The thing is actuallay a lot quieter now, so I guess I should have pulled that thing out in December. I could complain, but then again, it’s fixed. I know a lot of other people would’ve had to call someone, or deal with no AC til they could afford to call someone. And most likely would’ve been sold a whole new unit or system. Mine’s one of the last R22s, so it would’ve been a whole new system.Edit: I’m no Hero, but I am to the wife, at least for a moment!
Sat my old butt at my desk and watched over my two departments on our newly installed camera system.
