I was able to get it taken down to just the frame that houses the transmission. I'll degrease and clean it up tomorrow to open the tranny and see what's going on inside. It's slow but I'm making progress.Brett, is that a craftsman tiller.

Yesterday I got the rest of the mowing done, and I think I overestimated how much I got done Monday. When I mow I wish the five acres was flat. The hills are a pain to mow and take a lot more time than if it was flat. I had to put chevron tread tires on it so it would climb the hills instead of just spin. It's weeds so I cut as short as I can.

The last time I got stuck I hit a washed out ditch I couldn't see because of high weeds and it almost threw me off the mower when the left front wheel dropped about a foot all of a sudden. That was a hard abrupt stop. I have had to winch it out a couple of times, I've used long boards to lift it and put something under the tires and had to pull it out with my truck a couple of times too when I misjudged. There are some real sandy spots that are in the bottoms and other spots that get real muddy. There is about a half acre I can never mow because I wouldn't be able to drive out.

There are some really good videos on YT to repair them. Parts Tree is about the cheapest for sears parts, ebay is next. https://www.partstree.com/

Where did you get those chevron tires? I need some because mine slips a lot too. Freakin moles and gophers made the yard a kidney buster to mow because I don't have one of those mowers with suspensions and I sure wish I did. Pretty place you have there. Any hog problems tearing up your place?

My 3 acres is fairly flat, some slope on the west side, I cut mine twice (up & down same path) with a 54” zero turn and still it takes 3-3.5 hours, 4 plus if I use the line trimmer to finish. I just got done and I did it in about that much time. Don’t get me wrong, I just got the Big Dog this time last year. But when I first got this property, I had a 38” tractor, I only cut about an acre. Then about 3 years ago I got a 42” tractor and I was cutting 2 acres. The zero turn sure saves a lot of time. But then again, I don’t know how it’d do on your land. Maybe a 4 wheel drive 35 horse tractor would suit you better.
Yup, Scott, I’ve mowed 2x already.

I will open it up later tonight or tomorrow evening probably. Today was a very busy day work and I really just want to eat dinner then sit and do nothing for the rest of the evening. I still have 5 shifts to cover this week before the weekend. I am sooooo thankful that I have work and that I have it abundantly!!! It sure beats sitting around the house trying to occupy my time with something to do.
All you folks are talking about great things like mowing and fun stuff like working on tillers and tractors and yet here I am playing ditch-digger and drain-maintainer on county property nobody even knows exists I think I may retire and just volunteer myself out as "travelling spare-set-of-hands/airgunner" here in a few months. Just point at the job and off I'll go. Sure beats staring at computer screens all day.
Look at all the free exercise you are getting and not getting the virus from a gym.

I have heard there are some up in the hills but I've seen no sign of them and only know of one sighting about 10 miles away once.

My coral hog trap in the woods was overgrown inside and around it so I mowed and weedeated it to the ground. Burned some old moldy outdoor cushions and pulled long weeds from some plants then weedeated around trees, the driveway ect. Bought motor oil for the mower and glue traps that are made for rats but are also good at catching other critters too.
