Mini lathe has arrived, waiting on the safety stuff. This is my second lathe, the other is currently buried in the shop. Still waiting on a dumpster to get this mess cleaned up. Making the most of the wet, yucky weather. Didn't have any luck at the auction, so I ordered what I needed so I can tear up the yard to get tree roots pulled up.
Sending lots and lots of money!!

My Craftsman 12x36 is buried right now, I can get to it but that is it. I have the Dremel Hobby Lathe for the little tiny stuff. I am using all my bench top stuff right now. I am working on an anniversary gift for my parents, 60 years and still going strong. I did a pine needle basket for their 50th anniversary. Having to learn geometry all over again to some extent to do some of this, luckily there is software out that does take some of the guess work out of segment cutting for wood turning. It's something to keep me busy with all this rotten weather we've had lately. As for wood, there is no shortage of blue stained and spalted right now. I have some pecan, atlantic white cedar, red cedar, chinese tallow(pop corn tree), and plenty of pine experiment with. I have a land clearing guy gets me the good stuff when he clears property. Hoping to find some crape myrtle, that stuff is pretty when finished. I'll take whatever I can get at the moment.

I am very pleased with it. It's very quiet and is already assembled out of the box. Did order a good face shield and dust mask. I will eventually set up a dust collecting system for all this stuff. Ordered more stuff for the lathe so that will be coming in this week. Went ahead and ordered the yard wrecking implement from Tractor Supply so that should be next week as well.
I have the Delta Midi lathe. It’s a bench top model. It has a 12” swing and 18” bed? I can purchase a bed extension for it but I haven’t had a need for it yet. I’m really chomping at the bit to get the shop situated so I can start building things again especially doing some turnings.
Used a drill with wire brush attachment and got rid of all the rust that would come off the mower deck now that the old paint is off. Blasted off the rust debris with the compressor gun then rinsed off the remaining rust with brake cleaner. Now has coating of anti rust paint. Will be mostly covered by parts and installed under the mower so I wasn't concerned with getting it looking like new. If it works and doesn't rust soon I'll be happy.
I bought new tires for my Pickup after the front right tire separated at 70 MPH in the fast lane on the freeway. My fender and fender well took a beating and it pulled hard right, but I avoided hitting anyone and got to the shoulder safe. I was surprised that it still had air in it, it drove like it was blown out! Later I noticed the reflector and GMC 2500 emblem are both gone too from the violent shaking the fender endured. So there went $906.32 that I could have spent for airguns. I have some Body Work to do now, the lower rear part of the fender is rolled under and ripped loose from where it mounts to the cab too. The 1969 GMC had no rattles and now it has a very annoying rattle.

Kris I got a couple of rust converting spray paint cans at the hardware store. Dan what Brand of tire was that? Glad you or no one else got hurt. Yesterday a economy car's engine instantly went kaput spraying a huge white cloud of smoke behind it that blinded my view like a James Bond smoke screen where I quickly gunned it to pass as they pulled over to stop. What would cause that? Today I did a lot of landscaping and tree cutting. My back is talking to me and I don't like what it's saying.
I certainly glad to hear that no one was hurt. Could have been bad really. I am getting close to time to replace the tires on my little pick up. I already have it in my mind to research good tires for it and get those. I used to be the guy that would buy the cheapest tires or the longest wearing treads but those aren’t the best tires for ride, handling or safety. I’ve changed my views about it over the years. I run 70 on the freeways to and from work everyday and that could just as easily have happened to any one of us.
