Quote from: Robert Feddeler on January 24, 2020, 12:12:28 PMThanks, we've been trying to get out of kali for the last 3 years but could never find the right place we could afford. Had our home sold twice but had to back out because we couldn't find a place we liked. My wife and I are kinda recluces and don't like to have neighbors to close. Wife has PTSD and the only way to keep her calm is to out from everybody. It keeps getting worse as she gets older.Sounds like you're taking all the right steps, Robert.I've been working and getting stuff in order for my impending move next Friday. Gonna be weird living alone again after nearly 13 year, but I'm now looking forward to it. I like change- even embrace it! Electric, water/sewage, trash, internet, a toaster-oven, dishes/pots n pans... Not cheap!Gonna build a bed frame this weekend but still have to order a mattress. Good thing for Amazon!

I have 5 acres now with 80+ trees on it in the desert so believe me I know all about it being a full time job. The place I'm buying has Pinion pines that don't require and watering or maintenance as far as I know. It is off the grid so it has hauled water and solar for power with a backup gen that automatically starts up if the batteries get low and it runs on propane so gas to worry about. It has a rain water catchment tank that holds 3300 gal for things like washing you car and such. My son lives near me now but my youngest lives in AZ about 80 miles south. Lots of hunting there right on the property. Here's a picture showing the surrounding area.
The search would be a lot easier if a camper would serve our purpose. We need to pull the atv trailer. The one we will look at Today is a 32' side slider Ford with a Triton V10 that has 13000 miles on a motor replacement. It's a 1998 one owner. It hasn't been used in 2 years. The nice lady that owns it suffered a brain injury and has come to the realization that she'll never use it again. According to her, the replacement motor is still under warranty.... it's not a deal breaker if that's not the case. We're not looking for something to take on cross country adventures. Most, if not all trips will be weekenders within a few hours from home.
Kris- that Burro is awesome! I wish they were still being made.

Yeah, they have a weird exhaust note and they blow spark plugs if you race 'em. Pull easy/don't dog it and they hold up well. Most of the fleets have them for handi-vans (mobility buses for handicapped/disabled) and will end up eventually heli-coiling them because they are otherwise good solid engines. They aren't cheap to feed but the type of use you're looking at isn't going overboard, and they don't have a problem with idling, either (unlike some of the diesels in medium-duty chassis)Here's a little interesting tidbit: more and more of the municipal fleet managers I work with (over 400 across the US and Canada) are thumbing their noses at diesels and moving to the Ford V10 for schoolbuses, too. Too many of the diesels offered for those schoolbuses have low reliability.Kris- that Burro is awesome! I wish they were still being made.
My V6 3.7 Dodge Nitro pulls my 16' dual axle atv trailer with both atvs on it with no problem. This thing won't even know they are back there. We'll be about 51' long.... lol
