Attended a company meeting- we're going through with the sale so I'm looking at maybe getting some new-to-me wheels. 

  We're all gonna be like gangstas rollin' around tossin Benjamins...   


… and yet all I can think of is getting another 1971 VW Bus to replace the one my 1st ex kept.  SWMBO said she always wanted a 1974 2002tii or maybe a Bavaria automatic.  Sometimes dreams can become reality.

Wrapping gifts.  Son in law ice fishes and asked for tackle.  Not knowing what he has, i bought him a Bass Pro gift card.  Then i boxed it up in ever larger boxes.  Each one wrapped with a note on it.  14 boxes in all. The grandsons will get a kick out watching him open one box to find another and another etc.

I did once with SWMBO for a sparkly chunk of coal attached to a toroid of metal, but stopped at 5 boxes.  FOURTEEN gracious!

made a wall mounted coat rack for the better half's daughter (that she asked for) , a little 17 inch stand to raise the christmas tree higher because we have more presents than usual and made a little stand to get the computer off the desk to make room for the better half's new speakers and DAC/AMP santa got her for christmas . all made from pallets .

Skeeter I went thru the same ordeal with my phone mainly with podcasts which often have low volume where I downloaded numerous apps all of which didn't amplify enough. Finally I found the free app called Musicolet and I've used it ever since. Works great and has tons of customization options which I really appreciate including an adjustable 5 band EQ and amplifier which is the loudest I've found.

Only sometimes do I need to use a bluetooth speaker or ear buds when I don't have the phone on me because I'm swimming or taking a shower, or when I'm mowing, on the tractor ect.

Back on topic I removed some older LED bulbs in the home and replaced them with brighter ones. Really makes a nice difference. Washed out a couple dirty fans with the water hose then blow dried the water out with a yard blower then placed them in front of my large shop fan for a couple hours to evaporate dry. I've done that for years and they still work without issue. Blasted out a space heater and infrared air filter with the air gun since they had some dust and lint build up inside. Got up to 130mph on a open stretch of freeway with no cars around then I decided to slow my roll and be a good boy again but man does that engine like that cold air giving it more hp though.

We'd opt for an automatic so SWMBO can drive it- if we go down that route.

My mentor in the company bought a '73 Bus a couple years ago, pan-off resto, tuned 1975 2.0 Type IV block but most definitely not stock.  The guy who did his restoration also does Vanaru conversions, and I have a very soft spot in my heart for Vanagons with flat-four waterpumpers from Japan.  A lot is in the air since my main non-airgun thing over the next 6 months is planning for and deciding if I'm going to retire sooner rather than later.  I don't have many wants or desires.

Went out this morning with Michele and we both got haircuts, dropped by Target and WallyWorld, gassed up at Costco, hit another grocery store.  Came home, ate lunch, browned some beef for stew tomorrow, cleaned up some and now I’m surfing the forums while others are tending to making dinner.  I’m staying close by for moral support and to be available should my expertise be needed for anything.  Ha ha!

Waiting on tractor parts to get here so I can do the service and add a fuel/water separator filter to it. Planing another workcation for January, this will be a (serious spring)cleaning out of the house, shop, and sheds. A lot of my stuff outside was damaged by the hurricane and I didn't want to drag it to the road for the trash pirates to strewn all over the place when the roadside debris removal was going last year. Yeah, I know, someday I will have a real vacation that doesn't involve cleaning up after something.

Helped a lady and her boyfriend that had car trouble for about 2 1/2 hours. They needed to go to town so he mixed some bad VERY OLD gas with some good gas about 50%-50% so it would be enough to get there in the Lincoln Navigator. They first just told me they thought the ran out and needed more gas, so I took her to the gas station with my gas can and adding more gas didn't help. I think it plugged up the fuel filter because it idles good but acts like it is starving if you give it any gas. In the end he called his dad who came and called auto-club to tow it back home. It was dark and cold and I really was just emotional support except for the gas run, bringing them coffee, and letting them use my phone to call his dad who had the Auto Club membership card.

My S10 would run great until you demanded some power. Turned out it was a clogged up MAF sensor cleaned it up and blamo power like new. So sometimes it's not the obvious. Good on you for helping them out this time of year is not one to leave anyone stranded on the side of the road. When I had BigPig my old 05 dodge ram 2500 with the 5.9l diesel I pulled several people out of ditches and medians. One day some years ago I was on christmas block leave and my tank was empty and I pulled into a gas station to the diesel pump. As I was digging my card out of my wallet some random guy rushes up and that kinda scared me. He said merry christmas ill fill your tank with a smile. I said no I cant let you do that this is a diesel and its empty that's like 43 gallons and gonna cost over 100 more like 130 dollars. He said you look like a nice guy so fillerer up, so I did, that family has done that for quite a few years and as far as I know still do. A few days later in some nasty weather I was heading home from my brothers seen a car in the median. I stop as another truck pulls off. I get out go the the car the very flustered woman asked me if I was a tow truck because the guy that just left could not pull me out. I said no Im not a tow truck but I have a big heavy 4wd diesel ill pull you out. I get out my chain hook up lock in 4hi and proceed to just over idle her out. I unhooked and told her she is good to go she tried to hand me money but I wasn't having that all i wanted was for her to get home safe then pay it forward.

Not long after my mom put the story in the paper and I know the gent that bought that dicel read it.

Gonna go to some dealers and check out some rides.  Probably hit up my favorite Chevy dealer and check out some Silverados.  Dunno if my next wheels will be a truck, SUV, or wagon, but nothing is off limits- except a C8.  My team lead said with the buyout of our company, he's gonna get the C8 mid-engine Vette and just pay cash because he can. 

Anyhooo... I checked a few dealerships yesterday, found out that the local Volvo dealer will most assuredly NOT be getting any money from me.  I told the idiot salesman that if I end up replacing my XC-60 with another, I'll buy a used  Volvo from the BMW dealer up the street just to spite them.


Funny tidbit: SWMBO drives a Hyundai Kona.  Apparently, Hyundai has a Marvel-licensed Kona Ironman (Kona Hawaii is where the original Iron triathlon is held, so double the humor).  Turbo, 0-60 in 6 seconds, and the dang thing can turn a .92 on a  skidpad with stock rubber.  I took the "regular" Kona turbo for a spin yesterday; fun little car for what it is, and REALLY ENJOYED schooling some punk kid in a Civic Si with fart-can exhaust.

I had a guy in a raggedy 90's civic with no muffler try to race me in my 3.8L V6 Genesis Coupe. He knew he wouldn't win he just wanted to see what my car would do. I didn't take the bait and let him pass slowly as it was. Haven't seen the car since so it likely blew parts all over the road from him ragging it out one time too many.


Back on topic I loaded the sd cards from my trailcams and saved the pics to my PC for better viewing on the big screen. Coyotes, bobcats, deer, fox, all kinds of critters but no hogs thankfully. I did see a little new hog damage in my neighbor's yard but it looks like it's just from one lone medium sized boar.

Finished raking/blowing/mowing the leaves, then went to some auto dealers.  Didn't test-drive anything- just sat inside various makes and models and checked stuff out to see what caught my fancy.  A few things actually appeal to me so I took notes.  As I wrapped up and started heading home the 24-hour emergency support line (which is forwarded to my cell phone) rang, so while driving home I talked a customer through a complex software installation.

Got a call from work yesterday. The roof at the plant was leaking and water was dripping onto the steel coils we use for producing stamped auto parts. I had to go in and move things around and cover with tarps to prevent rust.
Betty Lou fried up a batch of fresh catfish. I took a plate to the neighbor's. I also whipped up a 3 gallon batch of "Creek Water Happy Pie"  'tis the season.

Honestly my Crew is off today and tomorrow. I had to come in because the Outside Contractors needed Baby-sat while they poor the trench they cut for a new line. Concrete Trucks are showing up in a few.

Scott, my closest friend bought a Giulia a number of years ago.  He drove the bejesus out of that thing and all was right with the world until he got greedy and swapped the EPIC mechanical fuel injection for a pair of side-draft Webers.  It was a gorgeous car but the reliability dropped with the Weber swap.  He sold it when he headed back to college.  I also dated a gal back before my first marriage that owned a 155 Milano.  She drove it the way they should be driven, too: 4-door Ferrari!  She was a little too crazy for me (which is saying something!) but the car left an indelible mark on my psyche about Performance Sedans.


As it is, our company sold and I'm looking at cars still.  Decided to check out the Classic Auto Trader and WOOPSIE big mistake.  SWMBO got a glimpse of some of the mid-50s Ford and Dodge pickups and that fire was rekindled.  I'd rather keep thing sensible and get a 68 to 72 C10 shortie like the straight-6 "tow vehicle" I owned in the early 90s.  IOn the flip side, if she go an old Ford or Dodge, it won't depreciate much, unlike sparkly jewelry

The only foreign car that I have owned was a late eighties Honda Civic. It was unbreakable and I drove it like a rally car back then . A mid sixties to mid seventies pick up is pretty hard to beat for easy repairs and reliability. I have been looking for one to haul my vintage dirt bikes around. I cannot believe what even ratty ones go for, at least up here.
