Traded an old dirt bike for an old snowmobile this summer. The guy said the carbs needed cleaning so I finally got around to pulling them off today. This is what I found lol. The stinky nest in the air box was even worse. I freakin hate mice !
Then I took my best buddy for a walk in the woods on a beautiful day for December.

Speaking of fox I saw one standing by my garage door when I drove in yesterday evening so I opened the door which scared the carp out of it where it took off in a flash and disappeared. Got a good chuckle out of that but was neat to see it since it was a red one and we usually just have grey here. Thankfully I have proof of it being here caught on trailcam one morning at sunrise earlier this year.

I washed the van and tried to polish some of the scratches out.  Waxed the hood.  Wiped all of the door jams real good and treated the windshield, drivers and passengers front windows and rear window with Rain-X.  Did a really good job cleaning the insides of the windows and installed some license plate frames.  This is a “new to us” mini van.  It’s in good shape but it was filthy on the inside.  I need to clean the mats and carpets really well when I get the time.  It’s NOT going to be a quick or easy job.

Having another birthday party tomorrow for my mom.  Ran out this morning and shopped for potato salad ingredients.  Picked up a cabin air filter for the van, went home and helped around the house with various domestic things, took one of my daughters to horses and I helped get the stables cleaned up and the horses fed.  Came home, changed that air filter I bought earlier, helped with more domestic chores and now I’m stuffed with curry, eggnog and birthday cake from yesterday while I surf the web and we watch The Little Drummer Boy with my peeps.  Gonna wrap things up for the evening here soon and get folks headed towards bed.  Maybe Michele and I will have a few moments of quiet time before we fall asleep.  It’s been a productive day.  I’m loving these long holiday weekends that I have been taking during December.

Have car problems and was late to work this morning. My car door locks were frozen again... my key wouldnt go into the drivers door, had to go look for the remote(i dont use it) since thats the only door with a key slot... find it 15 minutes later and tried again to open the door, after about 8 clicks in it still wouldnt unlock the doors. So i go back in and grab the spare key i had made(it wont start the car since its not chipped) and attempted to get it in the door again, it went in maybe 1/3 of the way, it atleast went in this time! So it partially in the door, i took a lighter to it and let it heat up.... gave it a few seconds and pushed it in with my sleeve, Thank jebus im in! Hit the unlock on the door and the other doors were still frozen...



Anyone know how to prevent it? Wd-40? Silicone oil? De-icer/windshield fluid?



My first time driving in the winter and i already hate cars...

Get a squirt bottle of rubbing alcohol,  90% stuff, squirt it in the key lock. It's also good to de-ice the windshield.  I don't know it these suggestions will work, an old army buddy told me about them. Rubbing alcohol is cheap can't hurt to try.
I do use rubbing alcohol to get water out of gas tank.  Alcohol mixes with water, then will mix with gasoline.

Walked a good half mile into heavy woods for a black powder deer hunt. -5*F with the wind chill. After 2 hours I could not feel my feet or fingers anymore so decided it was enough. Really a hassle getting out of my blind -- really felt clumsy. Walked back to my car parked in a friends driveway.  30 minutes after I left, he called to say 2 deer were feeding under the swing set in his backyard.  Should have stayed for a cup of coffee -- could have harvested one from his garage window. Late doe season next week.  Another chance.

Tom I had one the other day during dusk standing just 60ft from me watching as I opened the back door and walked out on the patio. It just stood there watching me then went back to eating grass. Could have just opened the door and shot it without even walking out but I'm just after the hogs that tear up my yard so the deer know they're safe. They just stand in place at that distance watching me spot light them with my red hunting light too whenever stalking my property for hogs with my rifle. I know deer can attack so at night I like to trust but verify they are holding their position by moving the light on them periodically just in case, especially when they are behind me close by and hogs are in front of me. If they ever leave my property they are going to be easy killing for a hunter but they stay around feeding even right after hearing me shoot hogs within 100ft of them because they know they are safe there.

Paid just over $1000 in bills this morning.

It's a great feeling to have all the bills paid but I hate what it does to the bank account.
Today has a good chance to be the last day of work before the plant takes a two week shutdown for maintenance and retooling depending on production targets. (may need to work 4 or so hours tomorrow). This year I saved back the bonus we received at Thanksgiving so we would have extra "play money" for shutdown. We don't have specific plans but, airguns will be involved in much of it.
Been looking for a fixer upper class c rv. Something to drag the airguns and 4 wheelers around with on weekends and vacations. I found a couple that have potential. We'll go look at them in the next few days.
