Made another LDC/moderator for my #2 Freedom.   It is longer and I also used both felt and Scotch-Brite type pads in this one.

I was able to zero the Freedom (with new LDC/moderator) at 10 and 25 yards easily and it is consistent on high power.  On low power, the hold over is also consistent at both ranges.

As far as how well it works to reduce noise?   I guess I am going to have to order a dB meter.   The apps for cell phones are useless.

It isn't "mouse fart" quiet, but it does make it quiet enough that all I hear indoors is the hammer hitting the valve.

I'm taking a trip down memory lane on YouTube music.  Worked through a bunch of house, now shifting my way through NewBeat as I jot down some random thoughts for stories.  Earlier I had to take an after-hours "emergency" support call while driving.  Ate some dinner, pumped some gas, and did some push-ups.  Nothing too crazy.

It's also very good for smoking meats.

I'll stick with Pecan for slow smoking and Hickory for shorter cooking times.   I have tried a lot of fruit woods for smoking, but nothing has ever satisfied me as much those 2.

If you have not tried Pecan for longer smoking, as in pulled pork, then give it a try.   Actually, the only thing you will notice is that it does not get bitter with the longer smoking times as Hickory can produce.

I love Hickory, but it does develop a bitter taste if used heavily and over a long period of time.   Pecan does not seem to have that problem and most people can't tell the difference in flavor from Hickory.

Picked my trailer back up from the fabricator's and prepared for 4 wheeling this weekend. He hasn't got the chance to rebuild the trailer yet due to other things that came up.... like hitting a cow with his truck. He tore it up pretty good. So we'll use the trailer as is this weekend and drop it back off Sunday evening.
Saturday looks dismal and rainy but Sunday looks really promising.

I’m battling mice in the walls, ceilings.  I cleared, rebaited and reset traps in the air space in the ceilings.  I need to get back under the house (and around) and try to find how they are getting in.  I had the foundation sealed professionally and there were no signs for a couple years.  Now they are back!  I did seal some questionable areas earlier this season but they still remain.  I am thinking about placing security cameras with NV under the house for surveillance and to find the breeches.  I also should get under there and set up some traps.  I hate crawling under the house.  It’s tight and I’m scooting around on my belly for most of it.....  not something I look forward to.  Ugh!

Sounds like you need some multi-catch traps or the ever faithful bucket trap...Have you ever watched the mousetrap channel on YouTube? Look up Shawn Woods. He reviews plenty of historical traps, but he's got mouse problems too and needs traps that work.

I have watched his channel!  Some pretty cool contraptions there.  What a strange subject to have a channel on but it works.  It is entertaining and educational. 

My main obstacle is finding where they are getting in.  I can trap them fine but I don’t want them coming in to begin with.  It’s a battle for sure, a sort of puzzle or mystery.  I’ll have to get under the house Sunday or Monday.  I’m working a double shift tomorrow so I won’t be home.

 My "Camper Gun" is a Sheridan / Benjiman H9 multi pump pistol.
It doesn't take more than 3-4 pumps to shoot within the site and at that low power it is plenty quiet.

Made a trip to Troy for smoking supplies. Stopped at the new Jacks for breakfast. Then went to Walmart and picked up a cargo box for the back of the Kodiak. Got home and mounted it. This will hold most of what we'll want to take on the trails. Planning a trip to Geneva State Forest tomorrow. Twisted Sister and Willie G. will be joining us.

Had a slow steady rain all day yesterday. That should make some fun puddles and keep the dust down. I think I've got a helmet cam rigged up so we'll see how that goes. I also downloaded OpenShot video editor for producing the videos that we may or may not get.
Geneva State Forest is not near as fun as Boggs or Southern Ridge but, play funds are a little tight this weekend but it's only $3 as opposed to $30 - $35 each. GSF has some nice flat trail riding. Next weekend SR will be hosting the Halloween events and we plan to attend.
They say there are gators in the lake at GSF but we haven't seen any in the handful of times we've been there.

I got to spend some time with my Grandson and started refurbishing an older Aluminum atv/snowmachine trailer. The wood was getting pretty rotten, but the rest of the trailer is in pretty good shape. Going to replace the lighting though with LED's while I am at it!

We lost another pecan tree this year to Hurricane Katrina. My son lost two this year from the same hurricane. Yeah, you heard me right.... Katrina.  I have six pecan trees left, Katrina took 14 at one time then 1 every two years since then. They tried to survive but the damage was too much.

Yep, it is a long term thing when it comes to trees and hurricanes. Most of the hardwoods in this area have done well despite being stripped bare of their leaves and smaller branches. Pecans and Hickory don't do well in storms, they are usually the first to get wrecked. They are notorious for heart rot which leaves them susceptible wide spread breakage. I am dealing with slash pine which is worthless for lawn trees, they shed to much and the pine cones can be projectiles in bad weather. Most of my trees have the rust so they are already weak. Pine trees in this area are dying on a daily basis, which increases the risk of more trees coming down on power lines, the highways, and houses.  I will use fruit trees that are cold tolerant and low profile as well. I have three citrus trees that survived the storm the forth one did but is horizontal and loaded with fruit. Unfortunately the drought conditions here have caused the trees to drop the fruit. It's never ending when growing stuff in your yard.

Hogs have been tearing up my place again pretty bad. Damage totals up to around 2,000sqft so takes hours to fix. Got this hog at 7:30 this morning at 35yds distance by my home with the old Savage 30-30 since my mini14 is in the shop for warranty fix or replace. Shot through a foot wide gap between my home and AC unit from back patio. Got her in the head and dropped instantly dancing in place through my insure shot just to make certain she didn't recover and run away like I've seen hogs do before.

Now I'm down to 10 adults and 6 little piggies remaining with my coral trap and box trap both baited.




This one is no longer tearing up anyone's property and is now butchered to feed my neighbor's family. Was around 80lbs. Been seeing a lot of hogs killed on the roads lately too thankfully.
