Now the wife is questioning the results. The melanoma is on my left elbow and the lymph node they mentioned is in my right arm pit.

Cut a 30ft tree down that was leaning on another tree which was also leaning so I dropped that one too then removed everything from the trail they were both blocking. Cut up another 20ft limb and hauled it off. Almost got the mower stuck several times in spots that didn't look wet and were hidden mole runs but got most of my mother's yard mowed. Now it's time to cut some of my own this evening when the hot sun goes down so I don't sunburn anymore than I did earlier despite wearing sun blocking gear. Sucker is burning white lately not yellow as usual!

Spent the day rounding up an AC, picked up a few things on the way home, didn't get the mail. The battery on the van died this afternoon. Barely got it started in Altha at the hardware store. So I came straight home and broke out the tester, yep, it won't hold a charge, the alternator is fine. So first thing in the morning pull the old one out and go get a new one in town, while there pick up the mail. When that is done, get the AC in the window, then get the rider out and replace the mangled blades. Who said retirement was going to be boring, not for me it is!

I think  my retirement is pretty boring although I sleep, nap and shoot a lot more.   I miss having a steady stream of persons calling, texting, emailing, knocking on my door, buttonholing, waiting in ambush at all hours of the day and night.   The teeming masses seeking answers, money, contracts, solutions to their personal problems, a date, wisdom.  (JK on the wisdom)   It took a couple years after retirement for the calls to peter out.   I'm sad and lonely knowing that I'm not  needed any more.

Part of retiring as I see it. Finding purpose and fulfilment without the mana of being someone who other people depend on . A return to teenage years as I try to make it. Airguns, quad bikes woodwork, a cracking good dog and writing poems and stuff.
Those who have never had hobbies to return to or develop must do it hard . Keep active, don't eat to much and although I hate it lay off the grog.

PS. I gave up all booze,lost weight and feel much healthier and more agile.

I am currently training three young engineers and work at one of the larger Cities in Metro Atlanta area.  Your post hits home on two fronts.  My work week is just the pace you described.  My padawans are in and out of my office all day.  There's always a huge steaming pile of emails to go with my morning tea.  And everyone is looking for solutions :-)
I am about 5 years out from retirement.  I think I can fill up a day and stay vibrant, hunting, fishing, trail bicycling, Kayaking, casting pellets, moding and shooting AG and volunteering to keep up with my grandson.  I will probably sleep in more and may find time to get back into playing guitar.....time will tell, but I plan to stay active as long as I can.

I went in at 0700 this a.m.and opened the park. I cleaned both day use bathrooms, pulled trash, blew off the sidewalks, prepped all five boats and then drove the first two boat tours.  I drove to the funeral chapel and attended the service for an old friend’s mother.  I commiserated with him and then drove back to the park in time to drive the last two boat tours of the day.  I got off work a little after 1800 and drove home.  I went straight out to the man cave and commenced to working on a Pencil portrait of the memsahib.  I had the sketch all prepared and all I had to do was pencil the details. That is my favorite part of drawing. That or inking!

 Last night I only got 2hr 28 min or restful sleep so I didn't start off feeling like doing much this morning. So... I sorted through some drawers of things inside while it was hot outside.

 It got to 94°F today, I know that is not "HOT", and I am glad we are running cooler than an average year so far. BUT, I waited until 7:00 PM when it had cooled down a bit to start some mowing. I mowed about 2 acres before it got two dark to do any more. If my goggles wouldn't have been dark tint I could have done a little more. That's OK tomorrow is another day. I came in and showered and got my PJ's on, now I am here on GTA.

I fixed the Bunn coffee maker, it was taking over a half hour to brew a pot of coffee so I completely disassembled it scraped out all the lime and unplugged all the holes filled with lime ran a few pots of water through it and it works like a champ again👍

 Well, I ran my weed whacker for about 3 hours and 20 minutes so far.

 It is 84°F now I have a little more weed whacking to do and then I can start the mowing. I had to come in and get the 4th 4AH battery for the weed whacker a third spool of string and drink some more water.

Just got back in Ash Fork and I'm waiting for the PO to open after lunch. It's about 98f here right now 🥵🥵🥵. One of our dogs ripped the trailer wiring out of the travel trailer so I guess that's what I'll be doing when I get home.🤬🤬🤬

Hotter than Texas out there today.  If you are familiar with Phil Sheridan’s opinion of Texas you will know what I’m talking about.

I don’t know whether I got overheated or I’m just suffering from getting old but I flat had to give it up at work today.   I sat down with a fit of nausea that lasted a good forty five minutes.  I was short of breath and figured that if I started having chest pains I’d be going down for the third time. Sure enough that’s when the chest pains started.  I almost let them call EMS to cart me off.  Didn’t feel like Angina though. I figure it was just a confluence of the heat,  head congestion from all the pollen and dust, Vertigo, and heart burn.

I begged off from work and headed for home to recuperate. On the way I stopped at my favorite Taqueria and got a giant Barbacoa Burrito and some fiery hot Cebeche.  Thirty minutes and a half gallon of iced tea later and I was feelin right!

The wife is a Texican and she believes that hot sauce can cure anything if it’s hot enough.  I think there must be be some truth to it.  She’s “cured” more than one of my head colds with the stuff.

Oh, I'm a believer but unfortunately, the side effects kill me.

Capt'n what you described are the classic symptoms of "heat stroke " better known as dehydration. Please try and drink water throughout the day.
