I wonder if anyone remembers what we we took on when Killer went to the nursing home and we found ourselves looking for a new home due to the sale of where we lived. Killer told us to take over his place and we accepted the challenge. During the first few years we worked on the inside and I've posted pics of that process.
For the past week or so we went to work on the outside. It's been a ton of work for a couple old folks from Ohio that are not accustomed to the heat and humidity of lower Alabama but it's really beginning to pay off.
Here are a couple before and after of the front.......

We have done as much if not more to the back of the property and I'll post pics of that soon.

Our biggest challenge has been snakes.. we have timber rattlers, cottonmouth and copperheads as well and king and rat snakes. I've dispatched 4 copperheads in the past 5 days alone.

Well I was hoping to be done today after mowing as I was beat but no I had another heavy limb resting against a small pine tree knowing it would fall on the fence if I didn't move it so I got the tractor and pushed it away from the fence falling to the ground no longer leaning on the pine. Then I parked it in the shop and realized the front tire was almost off the rim. So I had to jack the tractor up with the loader then remove my spare tire from my trunk and put it in the back seat which was not easy so I could load the heavy tractor tire in my trunk which also was a lot of fun. Took it to the shop and they pulled a nail out of it and plugged the leak. Got home and lowered the tractor enough for the wheel to slide onto the studs then impacted the nuts on. I'm beat.

Best part is that when Killer went to the nursing home the state made him sell the place. His nephew took out a loan and bought it. We agreed to pay him rent until that loan was paid off. In 7 more months that loan will be paid and we live rent free until we both die. Then it goes back to the family. Nick continues to pay all taxes and insurance and we provide the upkeep.
Nick works out of state on the pipeline and other than pictures, has not even seen what we have done. He told us that we are free to do whatever we wanted to do to it as far as changes and modifications.
This arrangement allows us to live very comfortably on our fixed income.

Finally got my new glasses 🤓. The contractor to the VA sent me glasses but forgot the prisms. VA ordered replacement lens and they are right this time. This is the second time in the last 5 years that they s#$wed up.

The river is 1/4 mile or so away but copperheads aren't typically attracted to water. We are in the woods, damp and humid. Food sources are abundant for them. Yes, under the trailer and the casting shed are very attractive to them. Anything such as wood and brush piles also attract them. That is one of the main reasons I am doing all this clean up. It has been neglected for several years.. as you can see from the before pics.

Looks like I'm cancer free still. Got the results from the pet scan I did last week. I asked the oncologist where in the heck did the cancer that was in my lymph node in my right arm pit??? He said it could have been from a scamish tumer that my immune system took care of.

What did I do today ?
Nothing much, been dizzy off and on for about 10 days.
BUT... my new TV came in, the new sound system cam in, and I got everything out of the boxes.

Now I need to clear the wall, measure things up and move the TV mount.
Wiring shouldn't be a big problem but the TV on the wall and the new one going up is going close me down or maybe stop me.
I'm 77 so the 77" TV is heavier than me.

Anyone in my area (Temecula, CA, 92592) available to do some lifting ?

Gosh it’s nice to hear some good news!  Congratulations Robert!  The power of prayers and positive thinking.

I had a busy day in the ranger station.  The sun was shining for the first time in two weeks.  No thunder showers!  Back at home mom seems to be doing better.  Things are getting back to normal and she is getting ready to hitch up her camper and head for Wisconsin to see one of her grand daughters.
