Put the gator to work yesterday. Started on our yard clean up project for the year. Hauled 5 loads of leaves, branches and pine needles to the yard debris pickup spot down at the hard road. And that was just from a section of the back yard. Living in the woods does have it's downside.
Today the plan (at Betty Lou's request) is to move to the front.
First I need to put a 10' gate in the fence to be able to get the truck inside the fence on this part of the property. There are several bushes of various types I want to yank out. At some point Killer's sister thought it was a good idea to create a flippin' jungle out of the front yard. Too many hiding spots for unwanted critters so they are going away. Last year we got rid of all the smaller stuff that we got dig or pull out with the Kodiak. This year we are going after the bigger stuff.

Yesterday I got a call from a lifelong friend... wanted me to come over and help go though his recently deceased Dad's stuff..
I have known Butch and his Dad Gary, all my life.
 But wait...
Dad Gary was a racer... anything with an engine was fair game.
 I spent 4 hours wading though 2 of the 3 shops. More vintage race stuff than you can shake a stick at!!
I was given a Kawasaki cafe' racer Murdercycle, and 2 tiny "pickle-fork" boats...
I also claimed "Dibs" on the F.E.D. that I pitted on in the late 70's along with one of the 6 Hemi engines... there is a pile of 6-71 blowers I know how to rebuild, but I am leaning towards the Hilborn injection unit instead of the dual plug tunnel ram..

Probably close... if not more.
Rows of blocks, cranks, heads, cams... those two were just a couple of the assemblies.

This is the Sprint car room...  Gary and Herman favored drag cars. But like I said, anything with an engine was fair game.

Last time I spoke with Gary he had a wish.
Wanted to hit 200mph in the 1/8 mile. Came close at 198. But never reached 200.
Then the "ticker" gave him trouble and lost his certification ... He was 80 then and wanted me to help rebuild the old FED and get myself certified... so he could sit in it on a few passes and make his dream a reality.

Here is me and Gary's brother Craig (Herman) the brains of the two.
This man knows more about Mopars than the Ramchargers..
When he passes a true legacy is lost here.

Yard and garden work, dump day.   I seem to spend a lot of time messing around with the compost pile so my wife can have nice potting soil for her flowers.   They do look great and she loves them.

Got lots done today..
Got the 10' gate put in so we can now get the truck into the area in front of the house. We want to pull bushes and shrubs out with the truck. I found out that the gator pulls my 6 x 10 trailer like it wasn't even there. Took it to Nick's to pick up some discarded weight lifting equipment. The 2' tubing will be repurposed. He also gave me more of the leftover tin roofing/siding and a dumping yard trailer that need some tlc.
Once again... the gator is earning it's keep.

Scott that's a speed on the ground that I'll likely never know in this life. I've done 600mph in the air at least. His shop reminds me of the old saying he who dies with the most toys wins.

Bill sounds like you need to rename it from gator to gitter for gitter dun.

But the cherry on top is a Coronet convertible Butch is on the fence of parting with...

While mowing I saw a resto mod white 56 Chevy convertible drive by with red interior. Sucker looked sharp! Must be nice to afford cars like that.

  I got the rest of the trailer frame ready for primer but it got dark on me before I could prime it.

  I worked on a '07 Chevy Aveo that belongs to a lady member of the Church. She had it towed out here about 3:00 PM. It had a couple of misfire codes. It seems ok now but I am going to put new spark plugs in it because they are 4 years and 30,000 miles old.  Then I am going to drive it around a bit more just to make sure the codes aren't coming back before declaring it fixed.

 Hopefully she can drive it home from Bible Study tomorrow night.

 Well I got the rest of the trailer frame primed and pulled it out into the sun to bake it on somewhat. I still need to do the bottom of the fenders and do something with the axel and springs. If I find out on inspection that I don't need to replace the springs and axel I will refinish them too.

 I took the lights and wires off for the painting process.

One thing I don't think I have mentioned is this week I have Jury Duty (so far, I have been/am just in standby mode at home).

I gave an old jon boat and trailer to my neighbor Ed.  The axel needs replacement but the rest of the trailer is sound.  The boat has serious salt water corrosion in the transom.  I called her the "Bar Magnet" cause she could find every sandbar or oyster bar in the bay.  My buddies and I beat all the rivets loose hitting logs and bars.  I can still remember Chris shouting "Get her up on a plane and she won't leak so bad!"  Over powered 14' Smoker Craft with a 52 inch transom and a hot rod Mercury that makes about 30 horses.  I was jumping wakes on the Ochlockonee about five years ago and all of a sudden something felt real wrong.  I looked back at the transom and it was about to fall off.  I beached her quick and hiked back to the boat ramp.  The motor is sitting in the shed awaiting another project (perhaps a small hydrofoil?) and Ed seems to think he can repair the transom and use her for a puddle jumper.  The upshot of this is Ed has renewed my agreement that I had with his father for permission to hunt on his property.
