Those 2nd stage piston rings sold by Pyramyd Air are nothing like what is used on the Vevor compressor.

Anybody have a problem with their Vevor overheating while just running but not pumping any air? The darn thing went up to 63C in just 10 min. with both beeld valves wide open. I'm trying to see if I can get it to start a little easier as right now it's a real pain. I've got it plugged into the same outlet I run my big devilbiss oilless air compressor from but of course not at the same time and it has no problems starting or reaching 125 psi. I never did the 20 min. run not under load that I've read is recommended for a new compressor like my vevor so figured maybe that is the problem. It always has been hard to get to start since I received it.
Oh, forgot to say it started at 26C and water fresh out of the tap.

Look at your water pump. There is a flow adjustment. It looks like the grill of a fan. It turns to open for more flow.

It's wide open and it's also a different pump with more flow. I would think that with no flow it wouldn't be a problem with heat.

My compressor is not a Vevor but a YH. What yours is experiencing are the telltale signs before mine failed.
It goes without saying that you should eliminate as many other possibilities first before tearing into it.

Only my liberty. I've only had it 3 or 4 months and most of that time I did not use it because it kept blowing the burst disks. I think the reason it kept blowing the disks is bronze filter in the fill probe was plugged. It's always had a hard time starting since new.

I drilled out the probe to remove the filter but have not had the chance to try it as Duy has my receiver to mod and he's as busy as a 1 legged man in a butt kicking contest. The burst disks also were on the thin side.

How about since it does not have a load on it, it is running at higher rpm and causing extra friction heat too... I know my clone after a many fills, the temperature evened out and ran a acceptable temperature..
