Muzzle speed Meter with tripod $28.92 @ AliExpress

I received my clamp on barrel Meter 2 days ago and after an hour of charging it up, I hooked up my rifle to it, fired it, and Bada Bing, I was getting accurate enough readings.

Pros: It's simple to use, really portable, chargable, and accurate enough for my needs. Did I mention portable?

Cons: None really, except, if you own the "clamp on barrel" meter, and use a LDC you may have have to take off the LDC first, or get longer clamp bolts, or not use the clamp.

For $28, its a steal!

I use 1 inch PVC for my DIY LDCs and the u-bolt, that comes with the MVM, allows the MVM to work flawlessly.

However, I have to remove ALL mounting hardware and use my own *judgement* to get readings for the Beeman B17s that I own.

By that, I mean that I have to hold the Beeman B17 near the MVM and be consistent in that hold for consistent readings.   No problem.

Always got a reading and all readings were consistent.


Never have NOT gotten a reading doing this, and I am confident that the readings are accurate and consistent.


IF there is a sight or other obstruction that is not removable, then the clamp on model may pose problems.   Also, the clamp on model only has a 3 digit display, so over 100mps, it will NOT show anything under 1.0mps.   Under 100mps, it will... but at that speed, who cares?

Other than that, I STILL recommend the clamp on model over the tripod model for consistency/accuracy.

Not to say that the tripod model is bad, just that you WILL have more problems with it for various reasons (mostly user caused/oriented) even though it does have a 4 digit display.

Thanks!  Just got mine.

It sure is tiny!  I think due to the short distance between the clamp and the sensors, and most air guns having front sights, most will need to be mounted rotated by 90 degrees. That’s how I’ve mounted the ones I’ve tested so far. I do wish it was able to easily accommodate a wider variety of barrels, but it still is a bargain!

OK, for all of those who are still trying to figure out exactly how these speed meters are suppose to work even after reading my manual translation, I have a revised edition now available.  I knew that the timing of holding the function button was at times a key to certain settings, I never saw too much about it my original translation. Well thanks to Earl sending me a copy of a translation he received (I assume from his vendor) I now understand the significance and have edited my manual to reflect this. Attached below are the revised editions so you don't have to go back and find the original posts even though I will update them as well.  I hope this helps others as well as it helped me. Thanks Earl!!

The Tripod model I bought has 4 digits and has a range to 800m/s. I would think a three digit range would just top out at 800 too not 500 without the .X . It is obviously a reduced cost built model with adequate range for airguns but is completely different other than appearance since the range measured without tenths and does not read as high. It may be more odd that it was not made like this new version to start with.

I have the clamp on model and it works good for air guns.
The tripod model is probably a little better for a little more money.

During some months, I didn't use it for many times or long sessions.. Today it stopped showing the speed.  I put it to recharge; after 1 h 15' I went to look and the light (USB cable) was already green. Let's see how much it will last.

I ordered mine with the tripod on March 1st it flew here from Corona land and got here on the 14th.  Was almost fully charged when I got it. Works good. Instructions are hilarious as there are about 10 pages without any pics and it’s only written in Chinese symbols. Good luck with that.  Good thing it says on and off.
