So I have a Competition Electronics Pro Chrono and it has always been frustrating to use in the sunlight. I never went to the trouble to get LED lights for it so it was quite finicky to get the sensors pointed towards the sun. At least on mine, it wouldn't work any other way. It also tended to show error on many shots. So, I broke out my little ali express unit yesterday. Turned it on at dusk, no real direct sunlight and shot 10 shots and it registered each one and based on previous measurements on this gun, it was very accurate. Ease of use alone makes this blow away the pro chrono. I wish I had found this ages ago!

Set mine up indoors. No additional lighting and fired 35 shots with it on the small shipped tripod (not to stable). From muzzle to the chrono was 14" and to the target was 5' away and had 100% of my readings. Good news.
I made a spreadsheet to give me FPS translations from MPS and FPE as well.
I have a Caldwell Chrono as well and will test both side by side outdoors and share my data. I will shoot my Marauder and my Maximus for my comparison.

Instead of side by side, how about "in a line" -- one shot, two readings -- single-variable experiment. Might be interesting to see direct comparison, and the degree of consistency. Then swap positions?

I like my ChiChron (but nothing to compare with).

I did this with my 2 china chronies about 6 inches apart - same shot, one of them said 149.2, the other said 148.6.

Well well, after over 2 months and a completed disputed, my Ali Express chrony finally showed up. The box was a little beat up, but the contents all seem fine and I'll be using it later today. Since I had already given up on receiving this one, I also ordered one off eBay from NY. So now I'll have 2 of them I guess. Boy, the little included tripod is about one of the cheapest things I've seen, LOL. I don't think there's any possible way to level it, so I'll have to use something else.

Thanks for the update on the tripod.

I think that the clamp version is better than the tripod version. I feel like there's less chance of shooting it if the meter is affixed to the barrel.

Just received my AliExpress chrony yesterday. Pretty much the same crushed box as shown a couple of emails earlier. Nonetheless, the contents were intact. Today, I got to try it. Thanks to the translated instructions by Lonewolf, I was able to set it up and try it out. It was easy to use and measured every shot. (My indoor range is in the basement and lit with LED fixtures (shop lights)). Have to say it's an amazing value.

Pay for 2, get one. I got hit by import fees and had to pay $28 in import tariff plus fees.
The fee is fixed at $24, even though the actual tariff to be paid is only $4.

i have the clamp version. was shooting .224 75fpe. it was missing 100fps compared to my pro chono. it is however...good for pellet guns. accurate within 15fps.

I have the clamp version, but most of the time I do not clamp it on the gun.
I just set it on sandbags and shoot thru it.
I should have bought the tripod version because I think it has a bigger hole to shoot thru.
Sooner or later I will probably shoot it because it is not clamped on the barrel.

I have the clamp model. I put the upper clamp upside down, and just rest the barrel on the V. In order to physically feel the deepness position I put a SHALLOW limiter ('L') secured between the clamps to (smoothly) stop the barrel tip. After that, I am carefully eyeballing the vertical and horizontal aligment. I think I'm being able to be 'repeatable' and the results have been consistent.
