FYI that SKU is the 4.52mm size, and indeed what I've received when ordering.

How can one tell what the SKU is and the correlating head diameter?

Here are two apparently identical pellets at different prices.  Which head diameter is the more expensive one, below?

The ASIN/SKU B003XTKB04 is head diam 4.52 (currently $10.12).
The ASIN/SKU B0035KIQQM is head diam 4.50 (currently $15.39).

I purchased the first one July 2018 and I received 4.52mm (based on label on bottom of tin--I don't have a mic).
I'm speculating on the other one, but consider:
In the Product Details (about 1/3 down the Amzn product page) you will see the Item Model Number. Those are Pyramydair #s (PY-P-841 for the 4.52 & PY-P-33 for the 4.50)

I talker my brother into buying one of the remaining Slavia 634s from CZ-USA.  Mine loads hard with the the 4.52 mm version of this H&N pellet, so I am going to advise him to try the 4.5 mm ones...

Are H&N Baracuda Hollowpoint pellets any good?  How about at $7.88 for 400? 



Mostly positive reviews on amazon and Pyramyd.  The negative comments are about fitting too tight in spring air rifles.

Note they weigh 10.34 Grains.

I haven't had good accuracy with the Hunters in .177 or .22 but it seems by the reviews that most people are happy with them.

However the Hunter Extremes in both .177 and .25 cal have grouped really well for me.  Much to my surprise, really.  They fly true like a dome but deliver an impact more like a wadcutter.  A few weeks ago I read a detailed review by Hector Medina where he expressed some similar experiences.  I need to try them in .22.

And my experience is the exact opposite.  The hunters are very accurate out of my springers .177 and .22, the hunter extremes ... not so great.
That is a good price.

Well I guess I got lucky, my (4) tins of Supermags showed up today in perfect shape packaged fairly well in a small 6x6x4 box with air pillows. Very few minor dents on the outside and no deformed skirts on the inside. The packing slip said Umarex was the vendor so good job Umarex and thanks to the members that take the time to share the deals they find with the rest of us.

Mine showed up fine.  Yesterday I got four tins of the cheapy H&N Exite wadcutters from Amazon in a 3 1/2 x 6 x 6 box with four air pillows, each tin in its own sealed bag.

There was still minor dinging of the tins but pellets in the tin I opened looked fine.  They do not have thin skirts.

It almost looked like Amz is trying to improve their pellet shipping.  Still a long way to go but that is the best I have ever seen them ship pellets by a long shot.  Lets see.

As far as the Winchester domes are concerned, the tin I bought from Tractor Supply didn't group well from my "looser leade" .177 Beeman R9, however they did group OK at 18 yards from my tighter leade HW95 but the "Winnies" did have small heads..............

I ordered a couple tins of the Benjamin Hollow Points and they are similar to the Crosman hollow points. I haven't shot any groups with the "Benjis"but I did run a tin through my 4.48mm pellet head sizer and they were rather consistent with few that didn't have heads large enough to be sized. That's different than the Crosman HPs that had MANY pellet heads that were too small to be sized with the 4.48mm sizer. By the way, I had exactly the same result (undersized pellet heads) when I ran a tin of supposedly 4.52mm JSB Exacts............

I used to size my CPL pellet heads to 4.48mm for use with the HW95 and 4.52mm for my Beeman R9 with the looser leade (CPLs have large heads measuring 4.53mm to 4.55mm). I then opened up the sizing ring of my home made sizer to put out CPLs with 4.50mm heads and found that they worked well from both the HW95 and R9..........


Here is a target where I got rather poor grouping at 18 yards so I cleaned the bore and shot a few more groups...........


As a side note, all my groups are shot "hunter class field target style" (sitting on a bucket resting the gun on cross sticks).

You are bolstering my impression that 4.50 mm is a good all-round pellet head size for .177.  Of course, it all depends on what airguns one is shooting...

Shooting off a bucket with sticks makes your groups even more impressive!

Well.....I just "dood it" and shot an 18 yard group upstairs with the "Benji HPs" straight from the tin while sitting on a bucket and resting my HW95 on cross sticks. LOL.....I didn't even rezero the scope from the 1st shot to the 5th using the previous AA dome zero.

Anywhoo.........I was a bit surprised with the group so it would be good to test them out at 50 yards when the weather is better. By the way, the bulls on the target are 3/8" diameter and the .28 CTC measurement includes the "flier" on the right (probably shooter induced)...........

Ed, honestly that's one of the best groups I've seen from the .177 hollow points in recent years.  You may have won the lottery with that tin.

Yep, may be true! I did buy two tins of the "Benji" HPs so I might shoot a group with pellets from the other tin. There are no "lot numbers" on the tins so I marked the other tin so they don't get confused. I've had issues with 8.4 grain 4.52mm JSB Exact inconsistency from tin to tin so I'm guessing the same may apply to the "Benjis". I measured the heads of pellets from a tin of Exacts labeled 4.50mm and found that some of the pellet heads were larger than those from the tins labeled 4.52mm and visa versa! Pellets from tins marked 4.52 after measuring......

LOL....makes me wonder why JSB even labels the tins with head sizes in the first place! LOL....supposedly I can get JSB Premium Exacts that weigh within .001 g (gram?) IF I'm willing to fork over $14.99 for a 200 count box.  I also notice that the head size is marked as 4.5 mm but no tolerance on that......

Ask yourself "Why is a major distributor shipping 2-4 tins of pellets to a retail end-user?"

[Something I learned while researching something else, so ...] I'm going to reply to my own question: It looks like Green Supply Inc. does offer a drop shipping service for their customers/partners, one of whom is Umarex.

Something else I saw on their site might explain the good packing job that some got (but what accounts for the poor result for others??) [see attached (from Xhttps://www.greensupply.com/aboutus.asp) (Drat! 20th post is still link-restricted; maybe #21 wins.)
