When the new DAR is finished and ready for the public does any one know if the mags will be interchangeable with the gen 1? Looking forward to getting a new 22 and wanting a couple of extra mags. Would also want a couple of 25 mags for my gen 1 .

James, it appears they will. I have a Gen1 .25 cal and a Gen 2 .22 cal. The different gen mags fit each gun, and I can take the .25 cal mag and load it with .22 cal pellets and it will work in the .22 cal rifle. I can't test the reverse scenario because of the bolt diameter, but unless I'm missing something subtle, it looks like you'll be able to use the new mags. They are very nice...all aluminum, easy to load, smooth rotation.

I think AIM Sports is the importer. Don’t know if they will sell direct or thru dealers. I hope they will sell direct. They are a fine company and have been working hard to get gen 2 rifles just right .

I wonder if Aim Sports was at Shot Show? If so they didn't seem to get any exposure here... Would have been interesting to see if they had the Gen 2 there and gotten some more info on them.

Mainly o-rings and some folks had issues with the poppets. Aim recalled them all and gave customers the option of a refund or a replacement when the new model was released.

There were three problems that I was aware of, 1 the regulator was poorly machined causing air to blow past the o-rings causing all the air to rush out the vent on the shroud, 2 the fit on the side lever was floppy loose causing many to shim the lever to remove the play, 3 the covers on the magazines were cracking mostly I think due to overtightened screws. All just general quality control issues. I personally also was having a hard time finding a pellet it really liked. I had returned mine for a full refund but would still entertain the Gen II.

I’ll attempt to separate them into what I consider to be fixes for quality problems versus enhancements/improvements.

Quality problems
1. O-ring extrusion failures on the regulator body. Easily solved in the Gen1 with a 90 durometer replacement but the symptom indicated the tolerances were not right (ordinarily a 70 durometer will hold 3000psi).
2. Broken poppets – The stem was prone to driving through the poppet, breaking it.
3. Broken magazines – As Tracker stated, probably due to simply overtightening the screw holding the cover.
4. Barrel workmanship – Bad crowns on some Gen1.
5. Undersized dovetail – Some 11mm mounts would not grip it properly.
6. Cocking pin – Could work itself loose. Just needed threadlocker and/or a dimple to prevent it.

Enhancements / improvements
1. Sidelever – Too much play in the Gen1 made it feel cheap.
2. Regulator – I have a sample size of just one Gen1 and one Gen2, but the former crept and the latter didn’t. The Gen1 I fixed by simply smoothing the valve seat.
3. Bolt – Changed from brass to stainless steel. Some folks managed to break the brass one, mostly while attempting to use slugs to the best of my knowledge.
4. Magazine – Redesigned from a molded plastic assembly to an aluminum assembly. The new one is very nice.
5. Trigger – Improve the surface finish of the parts for a smoother pull.

I’m sure I’m forgetting something but that should capture most of it.

Jason, that is a very good and accurate analysis of the basic problems and I always felt that they are all fixable and minor. That is the reason I decided to keep and enjoy mine

Returned my 22 and still using my 25 after replacing o-rings and shimming side lever. Down to using my last cracked mag. Will be happy 😊 when I can get a couple of the new and improved 25 mags and a gen two 22.

Me too! Mine is still hold air and I can't recall the last time that I used it. It's a great gun for my grandson.

This thread is now a year and a half old and all I hear are crickets!

Those of you who opted for an exchange - any word on status? Tied up your $ for a long time.

Time to move on I think - so what AG's have you found that might fill the DAR shoes? It has so many of the features I want, plus the out of box accuracy, and cost that makes it hard to duplicate.

So what are you shooting now?

I talked to Aim sports last week! They are waiting on barrels that are sitting in customs . As soon as they arrive they will be switched out and the guns will ship.. NO date was issued on the release of the barrels from customs. But on the bright side it sounds like the dove tail , leaking cocking leaver, magazine fill port and i may be missing a couple things that were addressed on the gen 2. Oh the gen 2 price will be higher
